Sad!........and scary

Business is primarily concerned with profit. Whatever sells is “good.”

The Arts in general is going to suffer yet another misuse of the technology. We will eventually learn the right way to use the technology after we have exhausted the alternatives. Presuming we survive it.

I think the thing that’s completely overlooked in this is that, to have that number of monthly streams there has to be an audience.

And that, for me, is the most disappointing element and shows that there is s lack of appreciation for talent and the art of the craft. For much of the popular music over the last several decades the quality of music overall has gone down… production quality is high, but the quality of content is not really.

Some people are subscribing, following and listening to the AI generated music, which means there’s a huge population of listeners that just don’t care and are willing to listen to any trendy, poppy music to begin with.
The record industry has gradually figured out that there's a large proportion of the listening public (I'm willing to bet the majority) who, given the right context, will accept music with very limited depth.

Unfortunately, a large percentage of the music I'm hearing in the public realm (radio, shops, events, etc.) is so formulaic and devoid of anything original or remotely complex that it might as well have been made with AI. So we've primed ourselves for this impending takeover and at this point most listeners probably would't be able to tell the difference between what has been made by AI and what has been made by one guy in a room with a computer - using plug-ins, samples, pre-made loops and tools such as Autotune. 😆

Aside from music, the near future will show us all about AI.

Cellphones. Texting, QR codes. TikTok. Emails. Home computers..........blah, blah, blah. So far, has technology made Planet Earth and humans better?

It's the same old place but with different "clothes".

AI? Personally, I am more than skeptical.

So, when we go see 83 yr old Paul McCartney........is that really his voice? Processed? AI enhanced?

A world of "fake".

Well, some things yes, some things no.

I think most of us would prefer to keep things like:

The steel moldboard plow
Medication eluded cardiac stents
Colonoscopy used for early intervention to prevent terminal colon cancer
Refrigeration
Antibiotics
Pateurization
The replacement of human and animal power in agriculture, transportation and construction by electrical and fossil fuel power.

All of the above are technology.

I totally agree with you and mark me "guilty as charged".

I stopped releasing music because it’s drowned out by all the AI slop these days. Why bother when absolutely no one is ever gonna hear it? I still record, but it’s basically only entertainment for me to listen to. Trying to stop it is like spitting back at rain at this point.
It's a labor of love for me. Not many people have listened to my three albums, but I don't care. I'm not trying to profit or make a living from my music. I own another business for that.
