Ryan, I'm so sorry. I hope your family can accept my most sincere condolences, even from a stranger to you.
It's so difficult not write cliches, but Polly really will be missed terribly here. :(

Huge, talk bass hug. I didn't realise so many of you people dotted around the globe, mean so much to me.

Hello Everyone.
IT seems that all of Talkbass has something to say. I've never had a conversation with Casey, and I really dont remember much about him except for some of his posts. I think the human emotion is a very powerfull force. Love can cause us to do some crazy things. There negative emotions as well that can make us do something that not everyone can understand the reasons for doing. This is usually the end result. I think we all know of someone, know someone, or our selves that has contemplated, or sadly commited suicide. LIfe is a funny thing. There will always be good and bad times. YOu could be the richest person and still fell some sort of emptiness! Remeber no one said life would be easy. Ultimatly, we all will meet our time eventually. Its the legacy that we leave behind that people will remember the most. You may not think your the best bass player in the world. BUt there is going to be that "newbie" who thinks your a bass god because you can play Classical Thump or hey, even that bass line to Longview. So I guess what im saying is to make the most of life. I hope this is the last time that we hear of a talkbasser taking their life. BUt what is done is done. So by reading all of your posts, I belive Casey "Polly" Hughes has left behind a great legacy, and will forever be remembered as PollyBass and an awesome friend!

Sorry if I'm so late, but I just discovered this thread and... I'm outta words.

I remember having fun with Polly on the boards. He obviously had the same cosmetic tastes on basses as mine, and he "threatened" me (on joke mode) everytime I showed one of my basses in the topics. We had funny exchanges together.

The news of his death makes me sad, very sad. I regret I did not read his despair between the lines of his - very often - funny posts.

Deepest condelences to Ryan and Casey's family, and to everyone who was close to him.

yes, hehe, i remember how much he wanted a white Rick with black bindings! I remember I found some on TB and passed the links along to him via PM and he was all excited cuase he could afford it, the next day he was in "*banging head on desk*" since the seller had ended the auction for someone else! :( :) i deleted most of those PMs except one, wish I'd kept the others... :hmm:

Despite of our sadness, emotion, etc., whatever we call it, I believe the best tribute we can pay for Polly is keeping on playing and sharing here.

From where he is, if he can watch us, I think he'd be sad to see us stopping doing all our musical stuff in a general way, and TB stuff specifically.

Hope there are dozens white RICs with black binding in Heaven... :smug:

I'm so shocked and saddened by Pollys death. His posts projected such a bright and funny young man. I'm old enough to be his Mom, and can't imagine the pain his family must be going through. My heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy go out to you and your family Ryan . May Polly rest in Gods peace and find rest. :(

I'm sorry I didnt chime in earlier, but I was doing an intense preamp hunt and focused on the Amps section. The first time I've heard /seen it was when I saw Justins sig - I couldnt even believe it I thought it was a bad joke, even though it didnt really look like it. :(
I could hardly believe it when I read this thread.
He was even younger than me; just married, and was so happy about it! :( Why would he do such a thing?
We'll miss you Polly! :(
Heck, we already miss you :bawl:

found out abou this yesterday.. there is nothing i can say that will dull the families pain. i have been there before and actually was hospitalized for awhile. iwhen i got home last night i held my daughter for hours thanking god i never went through with it. many many prayers and many more tears.

I just found out now.....

I really have no idea what to say, Casey and I sent quite a few PM's back and forth... He was one of the good ones, I always enjoyed his witty banter and quick tongue... He was a rare type of human... Equally as intelligent as humorous...

My heart goes out to his family...

...Im sorry... hope everyone finds their peace and remeber the good... IMO only way someone will live on after something teribble like this happens is through us remebering the goodthings. It always helped me as well...

PS someone talked about knowing someone online... to me it is a same thing... it felt very simular loosing someone i knew over net and someone i knew in life... its natural... so you dont have to feel weird about it... not seeing someones face does not make it any diffrent really...
