Sadowski Question:

NYC's are made in NYC. They have graphite reinforced necks and have chambered bodies for weight reduction. They offer many more wood options, Spalted tops, Quilted tops, Burl tops, Ebony, Birdseye Maple, Brazilian Rosewood fretboards, etc.

Metro basses are made in Japan in the same manner as the NYC by a small crew of builders. They are not mass produced. They do not have graphite bars in the neck or chambered bodies, like the NYC modes were about 5-8 years ago. No fancy tops, no fancy fretboards. Pretty much a basic bass.

I thought they were built in Tiawan, though I could be wan.
I'd guess all Metro's would arrive at Sad's-shop for a setup before shipped. Lakland does the same thing to ensure quality control.
Personally, I don't like overseas neck. I don't know what it is but, the best way to describe it is, they feel soft in my hand. Which is weird cause I have a very light touch with my left hand.
I should start a thread about this to see if I'm alone.

What's the difference between the NYC & Metro?
Roger's advice is; if you just want a plain Sadowsky without a fancy top or other options, the Metro will get you exactly the same quality and tone as an identical NYC. However, the NYC offers more options that the Metros dont. I have two NYCs which would not be possible in the Metro range. However, there are some people who feel that an NYC is "worth the extra cash" compared to an indentical metro. That's really a personal value judgement. Roger seems to think otherwise.

+1 here. I have owned both Metros and NYCs. I have even played identical Metro and NYC models. The differences in identical basses (finish, woods etc) were negligable. If you do not need the fancy top, extra options, etc. Save some money, get a Metro. They are still top notch basses!

I've played Sadowsky's for the past 20 years and I feel the NYC necks are superior. The guys in Roger's shop are experts with regards to neck finishing. In a blind fold test I believe an NYC would always be choosen over the Metro. I have a '92standard with EMGs - no vintage tone control. Maple neck with a D-Tuner. Have yet to find a better instrument boutique or otherwise. Roger just really got right. I would play both a Metro and an NYC before purchasing you may feel the NYC is worth the uplift.

Sadoski, Lakeland, Ibinez, and Peavy- wat R the diffrencs U C tween em?

ARGHH!! I hate that. I can accept a typo (and I'm clearly guilty of them myself more often than I should be). But to just not even try...

I bet if the OP had tried to spell it correctly they'd have found Roger's website themselves and been able to answer the question for themselves. Of course that assumes he was really interested in research instead of just being lazy and letting TB do the research for them...
