Sadowski Question:

Sadoski, Lakeland, Ibinez, and Peavy- wat R the diffrencs U C tween em?

ARGHH!! I hate that. I can accept a typo (and I'm clearly guilty of them myself more often than I should be). But to just not even try...

I bet if the OP had tried to spell it correctly they'd have found Roger's website themselves and been able to answer the question for themselves. Of course that assumes he was really interested in research instead of just being lazy and letting TB do the research for them...

jte

Reminds me of the fact that I think I've seen more 'Squires' than 'Squiers' around here...

Here's my experience with Sadowsky......

My first was an ash/maple MV5. Awesome bass with a HUGE sound. Sounded identical to the NYC J5 I played in the same wood combo. The only ultimate strike against it, for me, was that it wasn't a PJ5. If I was into a Modern J5, I'd look no further.

Next step was an alder/morado RV5, again a Jbass (still hadn't learned at this point). Another amazing instrument with even more bottom end spread and lowmid kick due to the alder. Aside from not totally liking the J body style and pickup config, I also realized at this point that though I was LOVING these sadowsky and kept coming back to them again and again in my gear trading, I REALLY don't like the sound of Morado over a true rosewood. It has an upper-mid 'gank' to it that I couldn't fall in love with.

So, this made me realize that I, being a Pbass guy deep down, needed an NYC PJ5. I lucked into my current alder/Brazilian rosewood PJ5 at a great price, and this bass is 'IT' for me. The Brazilian rosewood, and Roger has said the same thing in other threads, just has a certain tonal mojo that I absolutely love. Very responsive to left hand technique, bright but not nasally when slapped, and dark but clean when rolling off the VTC and playing fingerstyle. Matches up to the sound of what was, for me, the best bass I had ever played: a modded 64' Pbass with a brazilian rosewood fretboard and J pickup. I've NEVER forgotten the sound of that one, and the PJ5 gets me there with even more versatility with the preamp.

On top of not being able to get this amazing Braz Rosewood in a Metro, the other factor to me is the Pbody and the Nordstrand Pickups. Other than that, I would NOT hesitate to scoop up a Metro.
