Sadowsky Metro Express Modern 5 Review

This is perfect. I love that Ken Smith sort of tone and this bass is budget friendly too.
I should have waited for these to come out, but I'm still going to buy one anyway.
Shall I put you to down for one?
This must be the new Basswood, Okoume. Along with that, the roasted Maple necks seem as well have made it into most budget basses right now.
I like it.
That Harley Benton multi scale had the same body wood, Okoume as well as a roasted Maple and Okoume 5 piece neck with oil or satin neck finish and came with stainless steal frets. I like that direction budget basses are going. The only thing I have thought about like Alex was s maybe a different preamp and or pickups in the HB before I look harder at the Sadowsky as the HB gets close to that modern sound

I have been a fan of Sadowsky Moderns for a long time. Given the cost and rarity of Ken Smith and the lack of new Cirrus basses, I cannot think of a better option.Shall I add you to the list?

You know they brought the Cirrus back? But at $3300 that's out of my pay grade.

No, contact the guy whose video I posted. It seems that folks with fives in the US get them from Thomann. Sweetwater has two Modern fives as preorders.

The black color looks great! Sadowky is going to chop a lot of competitors heads with these basses! I had a jazz ME and it was awesome

Dr C, last time I was in there a month or two ago, they had 5 ME's, the stock changes. Just a place to watch from time to time.
Sadowsky keeps posting all of these images. Get some actual ME Modern fives on the ground in America!

When the MExpress Moderns were first announced I purchased one at retail + Plus shipp + import fees directly from Warwick. I've owned, and still do own Japan Moderns. The MExpress did not come with the VTC, which I added. I also put an aluminum hipshot bridge on to lose a few more ounces. Ultimately, I found I preferred the Ash Body Japan models over the Okoume'/Roasted Maple neck MExpress. With all the fees and upgrades I ended up paying what would be close to a used Japan unit, which required zero mods. The MExpress Moderns sound similar, but not exactly like the Japan units, The roasted necks are stiffer and have a little more attack. And the Okoume doesnt have the fullness and strong fundamental of the ash bodied version. The MExpress versions are a good initial representation of what a Modern sounds like. They do, like all MEXpress models, benefit from the VTC. But if you've got a few extra bucks, the Japan models are a great value too.
I will take the Modern over the Peavey since the Peavey weighs nearly 12lbs. The Tobias I have is nice, but the Modern has what I feel is one of the three best slap tones one can have.
