The Metro Express Moderns are finally coming. Too bad that 10% tariff has kicked in here in the USA. I am guessing it will be around and $1,500.
Yeah those are slick! Probably the only 34" fretted I'd be interested in.

I tried a good bunch last week and many reviews are coming to my channel (Bass Advisor), I can say the difference between 1st and 2nd Gen is HUGE. The fretwork is identical to the one in German counterparts, even to CS models. The tone is better too, but not comparable to German Metroline.
I was interested in a Metro Express, but when I found out how well made the new import Tobias basses are, I ordered a Growler five string. It would be a $3K bass if it were made in the USA or Japan.
You have no idea how comforting it is to be unable to afford this premium instruments. No cash. No GAS. Feels good!

that sounds like Victor Wooten playing. Really bright with lots of fret noise.
I just bought a jazz 5 metroexpress and I am super happy with the quality! The neck profile is similar to the original japanese (I actually like the german neck profile better) I am sure the ME Moderns will be decent! worth their price......jason at Fretnation is my sadowsky rep, I've bought like 6 sadowskys from him
Interesting, please expound more on this new growler. I saw your demo post a few days/weeks ago. Didn't realize it made that much of an impact.
Just check the thread and my videos. I think the import Tobiases are possibly the best options in the sub $2,500 price range.

I bought a MetroExpress PJ5 about 10 months ago and have been very pleased with how it plays and sounds. The workmanship and materials used on it are way above what you would expect in its price range. I know there are nicer basses available but I simply don’t need anything better than this one
I have a RSD branded Metro Express fretless JJ that I absolutely love. I know how you feel.

I’ve never bought from Thomann but I’m going to consider them for any future bass purchases. For example, I’ve noticed their prices on Sandberg are much lower than at Bass Central (where I got mine). Either way, I have to import them so I’ll go for the lower price.
Yeah, wait for it locally where they will pay tariffs on wholesale versus you as an individual paying tariffs on the retail value. At least in theory, retailers rarely pass up an opportunity to make a greater profit and if the public is expecting higher prices....
