nut slot is clean, no gaps or anything, probably the angle, in person looks and feels perfectly fine.

I'm talking alignment, but if you're happy I'm happy.nut slot is clean, no gaps or anything, probably the angle, in person looks and feels perfectly fine.
Got mine in today, haven't plugged it in yet, that will be later tonight. overall just initial thoughts, looks good, neck feels really nice, actually showed up in tune. needs some minor set-up, going to let it acclimate before doing so, here are some photos, including the "rats nest" in the control cavity, I will have to clean up. I will post more when I've had more time with it. So far pretty happy with it.
Glad you are happy with it.
I don't think your control cavity is a rat's nest at all! Certainly not NYC wiring, but more than OK.

It looks like the string retainer bar is off to the left a little? Not too sure about how the nut slots are cut. Maybe it's the photo angle?? The G string slot looks way inboard.

Cool bass man. I might replace the bar thingy with a hipshot retainer at some point myself, refill the holes. The hipshot tuner size I believe is 1/2.Yeah kinda noticed that, not sure if it was intentional or not, I'll move it if I feel the need to at some point.

Yeah, that string retainer is “out”
It probably functions fine but looks wrong
Wondering what's up with the serial number on these posted on Reverb (Chicago Music Exchange). It's not like it's blurred since others have the "Made in China" in a straight line with the serial # above.

have made progress, only things left are I'm putting a pearl pickguard on, as well as replacing the preamp with original.
Added Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, Hipshot string retainer, Hipshot Detuner, other than that, some minor setup to get it to my taste.
lastly, I REALLY wanted the original Sadowsky Metroexpress logo, could not get one, so I found a Sadowsky NYC logo, I cut off the "guitars/NYC" part of the logo, and applied it. Not trying to "fool" anyone, just think the original logo is much more appealing. Still has the serial number and made in china on the back, so no confusion there.
Anyways, almost done with it, and VERY happy with it.
Reassembly the metro express decal after the big Sadowsky will look nicer and clearly notice your bass are metro express......
First one I've seen like this with the curve. You seen MEs with a curved stamp on the back of the headstock? If that's true, then maybe they blurred it.They might've forgotten to put the serial number on that one. Possible qc issue. I know the newer batches of metroexpress have the updated curved stamp with serial like the made in Germany metroline basses, along with updated control cavity, neck and body horn carve.
