Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 (2020)

You,my brother, are a man of little faith!
;):D:roflmao:
Hi Basta-Bass, If you were talking to me, I actually think the Sadowsky Expresses will be great. My reasons against buying one have to do with the underlying reasons for the current state of world health. I am probably already breaking TB rules but I think you get what I mean. Well... the Japanese Metrolines felt, played and sounded like NYC's... and they where half priced... less choice of colors, no vtc, not chambered bodies and no custom build, but also no concessions on sound and feel...
For my part, the real deal was there!
I hope so. And the Japanese Metros were a different class than the new Express. I had one. It was very good and I paid the money for it. But I don't see how, at the Metro Express price point, we can expect comparable performance to a NYC instrument.

This thread is about new Chinese “Sadowsky” basses.

Ok...ok... little off topic... sooo sorry!
It was a short reaction to this post:

I emailed Warwick last week and they said the VTC preamp will not be offered as an upgrade. I’ve been thinking of waiting To buy one of the new MetroExpress basses, not sure if there is a better bass out there for $900 no matter what the preamp is. I could add the VTC latter for around $260 or look for a used current model -that’s about $1600 or more right now though.

We are here to exchange points of view from all around the world... if we are never to digress a little, the forum will be much less interesting and... funny...

The thing that always impressed me the most about Sadowskys has been the neck profile and overall ergonomics. The electronics with the VTC are good, but I see them as simply another flavor of active basses. The funny thing is I have always been interested in J/J Sadowskys, but the I think the PJ Verdine White model is calling my name. As for being made in China, I am not getting rid of my electronics, so I won’t worry about a bass made in China either.

Just my opinion(everybody has one)Roger is a Master Luthier who's been in this industry for quite some time. Also has made some "Amazing" instruments. He's proven over and over again to be a man of great integrity. I for one won"t believe that he would risk his brand after over 30+ years satisfying his customers. If he's confident in the company he chose to carry on his work, we should be also. I'm excited about being able to get one of his basses and not have to give up a left kidney to get one. Everyone is talking Sire this and Sire that. Roger stated he'd like for the average musician to be able to afford one of his instruments and I believe him. He's been nothing but honest with us. He could've just stopped making instruments and sailed off into the sunset. But no he didn't do that, he's making it possible for any bass player to be able to own one of his instruments. So why jump the gun , just wait and see. Do you all remember KSD? you can't even call this guy for anything pertaining to KSD, he'll have a few choice 4 letter words for you when in fact he approved the license. I'm sure they broke the mold when they made Roger. So as for me I'll be patient and save any negative thoughts that may never apply. Or you can stop complaining and go to his shop and buy whatever you want. If I've offended anyone I truly apologize, it's not my intention.

Comparing Roger Sadowsky Design basses to Sire is not an insult. I think Sire has done a great job of offering a lot of value at a great price. I have no inside information, but I would not be the least bit surprised if Roger Sadowsky did not look at the success of the Marcus Miller Sire V7 when he decided to produce his basses in China at Warwick's factory under the $1K price point.

I ordered mine directly from Warwick Germany a few weeks ago in Olympic white. Have to wait at least 7 weeks till it gets here (Netherlands, Europe). I think it will sound great, but I'm considering installing the preamp with VTC. My Sire V7 2nd gen. sounds real good, but I mostly play it in passive mode. So I think I might miss that on the Metro Express. Sire V7 is a great bass, but it has some flaws. The tuners are not that good, not very accurate
and the bass has a lot of neckdive. Hope that will be a lot better on the ME.
