I didn’t see VTC listed in the spec. They look like nice basses but a budget preamp would be a “no” for me. Part of the Sadowsky sound is that iconic preamp.
Hi Basta-Bass, If you were talking to me, I actually think the Sadowsky Expresses will be great. My reasons against buying one have to do with the underlying reasons for the current state of world health. I am probably already breaking TB rules but I think you get what I mean. (Edit: Some Content removed)You,my brother, are a man of little faith!

I hope so. And the Japanese Metros were a different class than the new Express. I had one. It was very good and I paid the money for it. But I don't see how, at the Metro Express price point, we can expect comparable performance to a NYC instrument.Well... the Japanese Metrolines felt, played and sounded like NYC's... and they where half priced... less choice of colors, no vtc, not chambered bodies and no custom build, but also no concessions on sound and feel...
For my part, the real deal was there!

Because of where they are made. Why is that?
Because of where they are made.
This thread is about new Chinese “Sadowsky” basses.Second hand market seems so cheap in the US...
Here in Europe we'll never get a Japanese Metroline for under 2000 us$

I emailed Warwick last week and they said the VTC preamp will not be offered as an upgrade. I’ve been thinking of waiting To buy one of the new MetroExpress basses, not sure if there is a better bass out there for $900 no matter what the preamp is. I could add the VTC latter for around $260 or look for a used current model -that’s about $1600 or more right now though.

Just my opinion(everybody has one)Roger is a Master Luthier who's been in this industry for quite some time. Also has made some "Amazing" instruments. He's proven over and over again to be a man of great integrity. I for one won"t believe that he would risk his brand after over 30+ years satisfying his customers. If he's confident in the company he chose to carry on his work, we should be also. I'm excited about being able to get one of his basses and not have to give up a left kidney to get one. Everyone is talking Sire this and Sire that. Roger stated he'd like for the average musician to be able to afford one of his instruments and I believe him. He's been nothing but honest with us. He could've just stopped making instruments and sailed off into the sunset. But no he didn't do that, he's making it possible for any bass player to be able to own one of his instruments. So why jump the gun , just wait and see. Do you all remember KSD? you can't even call this guy for anything pertaining to KSD, he'll have a few choice 4 letter words for you when in fact he approved the license. I'm sure they broke the mold when they made Roger. So as for me I'll be patient and save any negative thoughts that may never apply. Or you can stop complaining and go to his shop and buy whatever you want. If I've offended anyone I truly apologize, it's not my intention.
It seemed like you thought OP was talking about the Japanese ones, just clarifying.Ok...ok... little off topic... sooo sorry!
