Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 (2020)

Thomann: 1 or 2 weeks, + shipping.
Seems to vary from 1-2 up to 6 weeks depending on model and color option. Also these expected dates has been moving forward as time has gone by so we’ll see.
No passive option... that alone unfortunately says ‘Wish-Asian’ product to me. Why? It would add 10 min and 10$ in production cost... so this is a sign that they’re really cutting corners now.

Yes it seems they are. But they are not cutting all the corners: You get the new Sadowsky just-a-nut III nut, the new ultra light Sadowsky tuners, the Sadowsky quick release bridge, Sadowsky pickups, Sadowsky security locks, Sadowsky Portabag, same as for MetroLine, Quality control by Warwick and by Sadowsky. And in future the VTC preamp might be available, just as their own brandname on the headstock. We just have to wait for that.

Yes. I’m hoping I will be pleasantly surprised. Making it passive is no big deal... that’s why I’m surprised they just didn’t keep the VTC and the regular Sadowsky pickups. Maybe there will be no obvious difference and it will be a bargain, but I can’t help being a bit skeptical. Soon we will know :)

Today I've got a message from Warwick about the preamp of the new MetroExpress:
the treble knob on the Sadowsky MetroExpress models is a push/pull knob for preamp bypass.
If you pull the poti for preamp bypass, both the treble and the bass knob won't have any effect as the preamp will be bypassed completely.
So it will also be passive, but with no tone control.

No idea what they are saying but at one point he holds up a Sadowsky decal, looks like they were getting rid of the Metroexpress/RSD logo. Looks like a chinese Sadowsky. Wonder how long before they are for sale on our shores.

Thanks for posting. No idea either, but that's a good sign with the decal. I don't want to be picky, but I don't like the current one. Roger said on another thread that someone in China had copyright on it and he's working it out. So maybe that is close.

I am just selling my beloved but wont be missed warwick thumb ( ergonomic disaster), and I am really undecided between putting a order for a MetroExpress Hybrid PJ 5 or a Sire P7 5, honestly, I am looking for a modern P fat tone, but was 100% decided on the Sire till I saw the metroexpress price tag =)) What do you guys say?

Sadowsky all the way... Build quality, sound, playability and weight is fantastic. The Sire is great soundwise, but the stacked knobs are very vulnerable and don't work perfectly, weight is to heavy and they do have a lot of headdive. I had several Sire's and that is my experience.
