Sounds like you need to plan a trip to NYC. If you do that, you are welcome to come over here and check out the goodies as part of your trip. (30+ basses and a bunch of amps, cabs, pedals.) I'm an hour away from the City.
There is often a decent selection in Edison, NJ as well.

Take a bass vacation! Being in the East head for Bass Central in Tampa or the Atlanta Bass Gallery. I bet airfare to Tampa is reasonable.

Bass Central is in Orlando. Tampa used to have Thoroughbred Music, I went there once years ago.

By the way, for two-octave rock 5-strings with an aggressive tone, this is the baddest bass I have encountered, on a par with the Dingwall NG2, but with even more tonal variations available:

It sounds DEADLY! I think all 3 basses must be going through some sort of overdrive unit.

Without a doubt. There's no way that's a straight DI clean signal. There's some source of dirt

For used ones I've seen figures from $2300 to $3000. The very early ones are dearest, as expected. The new ones are priced comparably to Fodera and MTD and Canadian Dingwalls.

I brought it to an audition a few weeks ago, and everyone in the band had the same reaction after the first song we played together: "Holy $h!*, what IS that thing? It sounds friggin' AMAZING!!!"

Roger Glover plays one, or at least he did for many years. It's made in Paris. So they are not seen too often on this side of the pond. I was very lucky to come across the one I have - the serial # is in the low 40's, and I believe it was the only one made in this color.

Very cool. I haven't heard the name in years. I have a friend that's very into metal and I remember him saying the bassist from necrophagist played one and I haven't heard of them since. Being made in France is probably why. It has a unique look and looks very lightweight. If I could find one used that would be awesome, def not looking to drop the kind of cash it would cost for a brand new one.

I suppose it's possible. Sounds like something though. May even just be from a preamp or something. You could be right though, it's def played with a pick.

Just like to add that the two different types of 24 fret Sadowsky basses each sound very different.

I've got an RV-24 and it sounds more like a traditional jazz bass but with 24 frets. The MV-24 a lot more like a Ken Smith or MTD. It's a very HiFi tone. Those soapbar pickups and the way that they're placed make a huge difference in the sound.

I love my R524 but I'm hoping to pick up an M524 pretty soon because it has such a unique tone.

Hey guys, I stumbled across this video today and I was wondering if anybody could identify which Sadowsky model this is. Zon looks like a legacy and Sandberg looks like a California VM if I'm not mistaken. I'm in the market for a new 5 string and I'm blown away by the tone of all 3 of these basses.

Dammit! I knew I shouldn't have listened to that. Now I want a Sadowsky.

I thought they all sounded good, but my order of preference would be Sadowsky, Sandberg, Zon. The Sadowsky just seemed to pop more.
