Sadowsky strings: black label vs blue label

Hopefully, the Blue Label extra longs will be out soon for us 35" scalers...

do sadowsky strings have colored wrapping on the top of the strings?
i think i seen the blue wrapping which i guess is the blue label.

Sadowsky Blue 100%. Best roundwound on the planet.
I am a sadowsky endorsing artist who has been playing sads exclusively for almost 6 years. The blacks are a great string, but I could never bring myself to buying them on a regular basis because I endorse markeley's and get them for free.
After purchasing my new sadowsky which came with the new blue strings, I am blown away. They play themselves. They are articulate and huge sounding. They are also a hex core but lower tension. Roger said the blues have proven to be a much more popular string especially with the artists he works with. They are real winners. By far the best roundwound out there.

To conclude my review in this thread, I was recently given the opportunity to try out both the Blue and Black label stainless steel strings on my Nordy vJ5. While I like the Blue label more than the black label, neither set really impressed me. I prefer a nice zingy, punchy roundwound like DR Hi Beams and Fat Beams, and I felt the highs on the Sadowsky sets were too subdued for my tastes, the black labels even more so which I thought was at odds with what other people here though tof them. . This is not to say that Sadowsky strings are bad, they just aren't for me.
I'll be trying my first set of Blue's this week. I too found the original SS strings way too upper mid present for my taste, and I too love the Hi Beams on J style instruments. I'm still looking forward to giving the Blue Labels a shot on the new ash/maple Sadowsky MV5 that's on it's way.
I am still digging the blues. They last many weeks longer than the DR Highbeams for me. I really like the tone of Hi Beams too, but I have not back to back compared them on my Sadowsky. In the mix, the blues are just really working for me right now.
That's GREAT to hear, since the Hi Beams last longer for me than any other string I've ever used. Cool. That was one of my main concerns versus the Hi Beams, which seem to stay bright forever.
+1. Hi Beams seem to be very resilient and stay bright for a long time. I just finished trying a set of DR Fat Beams. I didn't like them the first gig. But after they settled in, or my ears acclamated ... or both, I loved them! Once the the B string started getting a bit dull and flabby sounding I replaced them. I switched back to DR Sunbeams that I really liked a lot, only to realize I developed a preference for the Fat Beam Stainless strings in contrast. I have a couple sets of Blues (Stainless), and I might pop them on my bass while the Sunbeams are still fresh so I can compared a fresh set of Sadowsky Blue stainless strings to the DR Sunbeams (Sunbeams are nickel by the way).
I also tried a set of Hi Beams on my Nordy and that was the first time I've not liked them. They sounded a bit too scooped I thought.
More to come. I might slap on the Blue Steel Stainless set today!
+1, I am pretty ruff on strings due to sweaty palms heheh. Hi Beams were my preference for awhile. I actually use Fat Beams on my MTD for now. I haven't tried the blues on anything other than my Sadowsky. I have a couple more sets of Ken Smith strings to use on my BSR5J-MW before I switch that one over to the blues.
The Smith strings sounded good, but man, they went in a few days for me. That didn't work. Same with the Fodera strings, which are very similar in feel and tone to me to the Smith's.

Yeah, I am not a huge fan but I might as well use what I have. I was using D'Addario XLs which also sound great but die really fast. Sure, they are cheap, but I have to change them twice as often

+1...the Smith strings die really fast for me also. On my Smith I've tried DR Hi-Beams, Smith, and MTD strings, and I've actually found that the MTD's sound the best initially and last longer than any others.
