Sadowsky strings: black label vs blue label

I haven't tried the Blue nickels. I generally do not like nickels, not bright enough, but then again I haven't tried too many brands of nickels. That said, I use D'Addario XLs on my Ken Smith and they are the bomb (cheap too) but definitely do not last for me. Not a huge deal as the double packs are very economical. Maybe I'll give the Blue nickels a run on that bass next time I need to order strings. Will be awhile though, I have some Ken Smith strings to give a go....

I've been looking to order a set of 4-st Blue Label nickles for two weeks. Your site lists them as "out of stock". Any idea when you'll get some in? Same for the 5-string flats?

5 string flatwounds are in stock now. If you get an "out of stock" notice, please refresh your browser. I am afraid it will be at least another 4 weeks on the Blue Labels.

I am using the Stainless Steel Blue Labels and actually love them on my NYC Sadowsky Ash/Maple 5 String bass.
The Blue Labels are a perfect match with this combo. I got some sound clips in the recording section if you are intrested in hearing them!

Yes I'd love to hear the clips. Point me in the right direction please. I have some Blue Stainless ready to go on my Ash/Maple Nordy. But I want to make the change when I can spend enough time to make sure the intonation is right. Otherwise, I'd throw them on my bass for a gig tonight! I'll make the swap from DR Sunbeams to the Sadowsky BLue Label Stainless this week. Looking forward to it!

I finally got the blue labels on my Nordy vJ5. Not bad, not bad. They kind of remind me of broken in DR Hi Beams. Very smooth sounding, and articulate. The tension seems neither too stiff or too loose. Very nice stuff. Depending on how long the blue labels last, they seem to be a very good competitor for those that like DR strings. I'll be trying the Black Labels next.

I just got a new Sadowsky RV5 w/VTC on Saturday. It came with Black Lable Stainless Steels. The BL's sound ok but they are a little harsh in tone and feel IMO. Sunday I put on a set of Marcus Miller Fat Beams and that was all she wrote! The tone went from great to amazing. I have MM FB's on both of my Sadowsky J's and the combination is DEADLY!

I had a recording session yesterday with a Pop/Rock artist and decided to try the Blue Labels (Stainless Steel) on my MM Sterling upgraded with a Nordstrand PU.

Never tried a Sadowsky set before so I have no reference. I use mostly Ernie Ball (Nickels) strings on this bass.

So my first impressions are:

Feel: I found it harsh on the beginning just after I installed, especially with the bass unplugged, with a few hours playing I didn't feel that way.

Tension: Little less tension than most of the SS strings I've tried. Feels just nice on Sterlings neck and it's very good for fingerstyle.

Sound: That's where these strings makes a huge difference from the competition. The first thing I noticed is there's something special on the low bottom that makes the Blue Labels sounds really impressing!

Low mids are very powerful but with no loss on clarity.
Fundamental is tight on a certain way that the bass has never sounded alike.

The engineer said: "No way to sound bad with that bass".

I Like it very much and I'll probably buy another set for some of my other basses.
