The headstock of the new Metro Express will have RSD (Roger Sadowsky Design) on it, because of the trademark issue in China. Some pirate claimed the name "Sadowsky" before Roger could register it. He is now trying to get his brand name back, but that may take a while. The new Metro Express will have an original Sadowsky preamp on it, but without the VTC. According to Roger: "Pickup and Vintage Tone Control upgrades will be available for the MetroExpress" later. Further: Warwick has it's own factory in China and quality will be checked by people from Warwick and from Sadowsky. MetroExpress basses will closely match the Japanese MetroExpress, except for the different headstock. Roger claims: "I am committed to having the best bass at this price on the market and will go to China myself to supervise the quality" So, if you have any doubts getting a great bass for a great price, I don't. Roger Sadowsky is currently facing some legal issues to use the Sadowsky name is China. That's the reason why he uses this logo.

The headstock logo looks really cheap. I have zero interest in anything made in China, I think the German models should turn out well though.

It has:
passive Sadowsky J-Style pickup (neck) - passive Sadowsky J-Style pickup (bridge)
active Sadowsky 2-way electronics - controls for Volume / Balance / Treble / Bas

So pick-ups and electronics are real Sadowsky. Preamp is same as Sadowsky used before the VTC ones.

They are made and distributed by Warwick. Design by Roger. But if you want to order one and replace the logo, go ahead.

I think Roger did the right thing. If he thought that they were less of a bass both in looks and sound Roger would cancel the Warwick project.

What does “real Sadowsky” mean in this case? As far as I’m aware, Roger has always had pickups made “to his specs” by folks like DiMarzio and Nordstrand. I wonder who is actually making the pickups for the Chinese Sadowskys (Chadowskys?).
