Same tort pattern on two different Fenders?

My VM-Jag has a very unique spot in the pattern that I have never seen - and I look at a LOT of other VMs and CVs to see if it shows up somewhere else too. So far - no show.
If anyone else has this blotch, let me know. It's kinda neat to think it's one-of-a-kind.

A close inspection of the tort pattern will reveal the halftone pattern if it is indeed a printed overlay; that is to say you will see little colored dots. The tort on my P Bass unfortunately was made that way.

pretty strange coincidence that you got two that are exactly the same, and on on two different models. the CIJ tort guards are printed like wallpaper or floor tile patterns, but usually, once cut, can appear to be a random swirl pattern like the vintage ones.
as you can see, my jag's guard isn't the same pattern as your's (it's a different part of the pattern on the sheet).

It's a pity. I wanted to believe in the tortloaf but the experts are saying it's like one massive sheet.

The tort is most likely made in a large sheet capable of making 4-8 pickguards that will be cut from the same position on the sheet each time. So the chances of getting a matching one may only be around 1 in 4.
Still quite amazing, though.
