Sandberg basses

I don't think he intentionally knocked the bass over but it hurt my heart nonetheless. Trulijo can play, obviously. But I think the guy in the video I posted blows him away. Intermixed in that whole multistyle groove is the funk. Always the funk.
I got no funk. :sour: I keep watching vids like that, maybe I'll absorb some by osmosis.

They are phenomenal basses.I'd definitely go for one of these over a Fender anyday.Fine German craftsmanship and great pickups.Personally if I were going the "traditional" looking bass route I'd go with a Sadowsky or Low End.Celinders are pretty sweet as well

I've also never seen one in person and I don't know about the particular model you mention, but this is one of the best bass tones I've ever heard:

What drives me crazy is these guys always look like they are barely putting any effort into it and their fingers don't seem to match what I'm hearing it could be old age but I think it's witchcraft.

Cheers for all the comments! First of all, not being a Metallica at all since always, the first guy totally out-beats Robert, speaking just for those videos. I don't really know what else Robert is capable of, don't bother anyway.. :P

So, I don't really know why I posted here in the first place, since I played that mentioned Sandberg, I wanted to get one haha. So I guess I will indeed invest some and get it. I'll give the bass I've seen a test run and might get it with my neext pay then. You guys just approved of it ;)

I've owned four Sandbergs in total, one is in my possession at the moment, I got it today. They build very high quality basses, in my opinion. I love their take on the J and P basses. I'm not a big MM fan, so I sold my TM5 Supreme (J + MM pup config). I then ordered my own VS5 (5 string P) that I sold to raise cash for my Custom Shop Fender 59 P, along with a relic'ed VS4 that I've missed ever since.

So when I saw this online... NBD - Sandberg (warning: relic content) | TalkBass.com

Happy to own a Sandberg again. Dont think you'll regret buying one, they are very well made, easy to play, set up easy, and seem sturdy to me.

I like several of their styles, here's a few I find very nice:
Yeah, I was surprised he got that nice, round note definition out of a P config. I associate that kind of tone more with JJ basses.

IIRC, Marlowe DK's used Sandbergs in many of his videos. Nice tone in those, also.
Ok, theory buffs: what scale / mode / whatever is most of that in? I used to know this stuff.

I could be wrong, but...Phrygian. Like Mile Davis's Sketches of Spain. The minor third often gets resolved to a major third.

Added: Play an F major scale from the third degree (A) to the octave above it (A).

Ah, yeah, there's the connection I'm hearing - Phrygian dominant (that raised 3rd) is used by Klezmer.

Just picked up a TM4. I gambled as I never really sat down and played one to speak of. I have a friend who tours with one and he showed it to me after a show when he was in town one night. I played it for the first time at last nights gig. I'm in love. Fantastic instrument. Now I'm concerned that the others may be neglected. The tone was perfect.

I believe these basses would really do well if the brand had more exposure in the U.S.. Their availability is pretty limited here, although I'm sure you will never see them mass produced for the big box stores. They are getting more fans as they grow their dealer network. I was very fortunate to have purchased this one from a gentleman on this site who wanted a five string. Unfortunately, currently ordering a new one from Germany can take about 10 months .
