The SBMM Short Scale fits in many but not all guitar sized gig bags. The instrument is just under 41 inches long so any bag with an interior length that accomodates that will work. The Gator, Levy, and Mono bags fit. The Protec Contigo is too short. Do check the dimensions on the bag before purchase though as they do change.I know im late to the dance and im sure the answer is somewhere in this post but let me ask where can i get a gigbag that will fit? thanx...... I would assume you can use a straight pot and I think someone on here did that.I love mine, but the volume pot went out out on it. I read once on here that someone replaced theirs with regular non pop out pot. Anyone know if this is possible and which value volume pot would work?
here's the push/pushI think I'd prefer a regular pot, I wasnt a fan of the pop out thing. Just trying to determine what value would be best.
I dont know. That's why I was asking
Update: I replaced the faulty pop out pot with a 500k Dunlop Super Pot. I left the capacitor off. It sounds fine.I dont know. That's why I was asking![]()
Do you hear any difference at all?Update: I replaced the faulty pop out pot with a 500k Dunlop Super Pot. I left the capacitor off. It sounds fine.
View attachment 4530745 View attachment 4530738 Well, after being seduced by the glowing reviews and hype, I was lured into selling my stingray shorty for a Sire U5.
But now order has been restored . The Sire is gone and I’ve returned to the stingray fold.
It’s a better instrument for me.
Nothing wrong with the U5, but I’m happier with the Ray
I immediately replaced the tuners with short key schallers and I’m good to go.
I got them from eBay as new old stock.where did you find the short key Schallers? Are they more or less drop in? Significantly different in weight?
yes I agree. The nut slots on these basses can stand a bit of lowering and it makes a big improvementA friend of mine loaned me a set of nut files so I could do some work on a few low cost basses. My Stingray needed a touch of work. Now it plays better than ever!![]()

Series mode. That’s the middle option right? If so that would be my choice too. Just had a slightly richer sound than the single coil mode.I did this with a 500k and it works perfect. I also eliminated the selector switch and wired it permanently in series mode, then made a new pick guard and control plate from a piece of aluminum.
