SBMM Stingray Short scale

Congrats, it's a really good bass. Please post photos after you receive it. I've only seen stock photos on a Sunburst Sterling Shorty.
I have an Ibanez Mikro (shown with Stingray in photo) and an Ibanez 100ex. They will probably just collect dust now. This Sterling Stingray is exactly what I expected it be... and I couldn't be happier. Years of working up in Alaska working on fishing boats took a toll on my wrists. But everything about her is just so comfortable from how she feels slung on my shoulder to the perfect fit of her neck in my hands. Best of all... she sounds just like a Stingray!

Sounds like the screw hole is stripped and you can’t adjust the pup height properly. You can probably fix it yourself by gluing some paper or a matchstick into the hole or take it to a tech and have it looked over.
You can also just put some Neoprene foam under the pickup. Stew Mac has it, or use something you have around the house. (cut an old yoga mat or similar)

I don't know whether it's a reflection more of Reverb itself or of its customers, but fans of the SBMM short scale Stingray may be extremely proud to know that it's been rated "#1 in Active Electronics". Quite an accomplishment for a lowly, affordable passive bass!

It's an Amazing Bass. I live in NYC (no shortage of Choices & Options) and I played many Brands and Basses. My other guitars are: Vintage Fender Stratocaster, Suhr Custom Strat, Ovation Legend and Taylor 414ce-R and this "Holds-it's-own" amongst some Top of the Line instruments. The neck, fretwork, pickup & playability are really great ( however) the Company Praxis Music Group (maker/distributor of this bass) were not the most knowledgable or helpful. - MICHAEL - NYC -

After thinking,I needed to sell my dropped copper SBMM short scale,to cover another bass purchase, decided to try and keep. I like it as much as I do my US SUB,I recently got back in my possession. Had the dropped copper bass for sale,in the classifieds, some may thought had it overpriced? I have a fitted Gator case, for mine, reason it was priced that way, cover shipping. Long story short, going to keep, for myself. Glad I was able to get the rosewood fretboard switched, and it is the way I prefer. Really impressed with the quality, and playability of the short scale. And I have had numerous quality basses, down through the years,to compare. Nice bass, for the money.

Just want to thank all of you bassheads out there for this awesome thread. I've been wanting a Stingray since the day I first laid eyes on one many moons ago. Although the active pickup systemand their price tag has always turned me off to them. Now it's available in short scale with a passive pickup for less than $500? Woohoo! So I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger and ordered one from GC last night. I am picking up a Sunburst version of this Sterling Short Scale Stingray as soon as I recieve my ready for pick up Email. Can't wait to get my hands on her!

Thanks very much for mentioning this. Your post prompted me to buy one myself. It looks like this particular finish might be a GC special offering, since it's not at Sweetwater and not even on the Sterling website. Plus it's discounted by $100, so a really great deal. Thanks again.

Yay! I'm thrilled you got yourself one of these beauties. I can only hope that you're loving yours as much as I'm loving mine. I feel pretty lucky that GC has this vintage sunburst finish in stock. But now I'm wanting the white version so I can trade necks. I think the rosewood would look so very groovy with the sunburst. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for a good deal on one.

Didn't somebody do that neck swap on a sunburst one already?
