SBMM Stingray Short scale

I'll probably change from the stock strings to Stringjoy short scales. But not for a while yet.
Yeah, I looked at their website. They have a nice selection of short scale strings. Most makers have one or two. But no stainless steel! I generally prefer nickles but I'm about to put Hi Beams on again as I am craving some zing.

I'll definitely be trying them in the future. thanks for the tip TB!

Just to chime in on the strings and flats discussion, I had chromes on my shorty for 2 days but I really just don’t like chromes for some reason. I’ve tried them on many basses, and they never work for me. EB Cobalt flats on the other hand are some of my favorites, but they don’t make them in short scale. I emailed Ernie Ball Music Man about getting some for my short scale stingray and they basically told me I’d have to use a different brand for flats on my shorty. The only reason I bought short scale chromes is because they sell them in heavier gauges than the 95’s that many other string makers seem to think we want. Barf… no thanks!

Has anyone put an active preamp in one of these yet? I’m 90% sure that’s my next move, but I’m curious if I’ll need to change the pickup as well.?.?.? I’m under the impression that these stock pickups are designed to be high output and work well with the passive electronics.

I have tried a John East MMSR 3 band preamp in...permanently wired in parallel. It works wonderfully!

NPD, that is, new pickguard day.
