SBMM Stingray Short scale

Strung my baby up with some GHS Brite flats. They will probably be my perfect string and they match my blue set up I have going on, however I am a little nervous that I cut the strings too short and I’m also nervous about the g string break angle being so different :/

@ bassplace try this one first... I bought the Talman first, put new G&L Pickups, new tuners and pro set up and thought I was happy... now I have too many basses and need to sell a couple... the one thats not going anytime soon is this Stingray SS, needs no work. feels great, plays great & sounds great. really good bang for your buck.

FedEx delivered my SBMM Stingray short scale today. It was well packed and the box was in excellent condition, considering it traveled from California to New York. I didn’t get a case. I did get tools (a rod for adjusting the truss rod, and an Allen key for adjusting the bridge saddles). Workmanship and fit/finish exceeded my expectations for a bass in this price range. The action was very low and there was no relief in the neck, and there was buzzing everywhere, so I raised the saddles a bit. I’ll adjust the neck relief when I have a little more time.
I spent a little time playing through headphones, and so far I really love the way this bass sounds and feels. Pictures to follow.

After a little more time spent with the bass:
Still trying to dial in the setup. Made some adjustments to action and relief. I noticed that the nut appears to be cut too high. When I’m able, I’ll get a pro setup.
There’s also a grounding issue, a buzz that goes away when I touch the strings or bridge. I’ll also get this taken care of when I get the setup done
The pickup was rattling around in its cavity when, for example, I pluck the G string. I tweaked the pickup adjusting screws to make it firmer, but it doesn’t feel like there is enough upward pressure on the pickup. Has anyone taken the pickup out who could tell me what’s in the cavity—springs, foam, etc?

Had to cut the nut slots deeper on mine too. No grounding issues though and the pups adjusted in the normal way when I dropped them after setting the action as low as possible without fret buzz.

Same for me Eric filed down the nut for me and it took an already comfortable bass and made it feel like a dream.
No ground issues or fret buzz on mine.

I emailed SBMM asking about a gig bag recommendation. They said they did not sell a gig bag for the SRSS, and suggested I buy the hard case for the US model.
Has anyone bought a non-SBMM branded gig bag for this bass?
I’ve seen people use certain electric guitar bags as the bass isn’t much bigger than a guitar. You need to check if it fits before you buy though. Maybe hard to do because of covids

Fits perfectly in a guitar bag. I've been using the Fender bag that came with my Strat.
