(apologies for the quickly snapped photo, will take some better ones at some point!)

So this turned up today - next day delivery from Music Street, first time buying from them. Either they set the bass up or it came great from SBMM, it plays really well.

If it had a 1.625" nut it'd be perfect, but I'm already adapting to the smaller neck after a quick play. Sounded great through headphones, good variation in the wiring options, and the boost function certainly adds something. Hopefully lockdown will be over soon, I'd love to try this out at practice.

Strings aren't as floppy as I expected, can play with a pick comfortably in standard tuning - usually play in Eb, so will get heavier gauge strings for that.

Gig bag is really good quality as well - padded, sturdy. Not much storage space which is fine, and obviously it's a full size case, but it seems to hold the shorty in place just as well.

Will update as I get more used to it & spend more time noodling!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this bass is 549 dollars in the US right? I'm looking at some European vendors and prices seem to be between 800 and 1000 euros. Which is quite steep, and is a rare case jacking up prices for the market over here. Usually if something for example is 550 dollars in the US, it's 550 euros over here. I wonder why it's different in this case.

V.A.T. is a helluva thing. Mine with local sales tax came out to about $580. I'm joking mostly, although VAT does seem pretty high some times.

At Thomann it is 769,- and it isn't in stock. It is quite usual that before items are in stock, the recommended retail price is shown, which is much higher than the real price.

Hmm, hope that's the case here as well. 769 is actually on the cheaper side too, because check this out: Sterling by Music Man RAYSS4 StingRay Short Scale Olympic White Electric Bass Guitar . Guess it's a waiting game right now.

That's crazy. Bax is usually pretty cheap, I thought.

Mine was £664. More expensive than the US definitely, not sure why there's such a discrepancy here, but I don't think it's an unfair price on first impressions. Comparable to the Fender Player range in price (I think they're great instruments), and definitely comparable in quality.

Ordered mine on Reverb today. Should arrive within a week, and I will be sure to follow up here. I want to see if the strings are not too tight to play over the pickup. If they are, then I'll measure to see if a ZeroMod thumbrest will fit. I have had ZeroMods on SUB Ray 4s in the past. Basswood bodies and heavy overall weight prevented me from bonding with those axes. I really have a lot of hope for the shorty, since its' weight would seem to be in line with the rest of my herd (a pair of American G&L JB-2s, an American JB, and a LB-100 Tribute, which remains the designated beater, and a limited edition Warwick that is effectively retired for collector value, along with the JB-2s).
