Scale length?

Hello there! I was wondering what scale length most universities go with in their rental basses? I was wondering because I might be majoring in Music Education with bass as my main instrument and will be buying an electric upright so that I can practice wherever/whenever I want. The problem is that I have never really played an upright bass so in order to memorize where the notes are on the fingerboard I need to buy an electric upright with the same scale length as the basses that universities use.

A 3/4 size bass (normal for most players who are adults) has a string length from 40.5 to 42 inches.
A 7/8 size bass (too big for most people) is 43-44 inches.
A full size (4/4) is played by only the tallest and longest armed people with a string length from 44 to 46 inches.
Most universities that have basses have 3/4 and maybe, if you are lucky, some 1/2 sizes.
An electric bass has a length of 32-34 in normal size
A "long" or full size electric has 35-36 inches
Hope this helps
