Scary video games thread

Ok, this ws inspired by the other thread about saw 3, in which posters were told to post about scary games in another thread... this thread

Silent Hill 2 is quite possibly the scariest game i have played. its not a 'bang' type of fear like doom 3 or half life 2, its a much more subtle and effective psychological fear. the tension the game's creators were able to make was just incredible.

i had this feeling of being constantly under some sort of pressure the whole time i played that game. i actually thought it was a masterpiece to be quite honest.

The Silent Hill series was amazing. There was another series which I just can't think of the name of. It was sort of like silent hill, I remember in one of the games you were in a hotel area in a desert type place, and the monsters were dinosaur type creatures. It was a great thriller/horror game for psone, I'll try to remember the name.

The Resident Evil series was great as well.

A couple years back I was playing Resident Evil on the PS2, and I was alone at home, at night, and it was dark since I hadn't turned on any lights - I'd been playing a few hours.
I had the stereo turned up with the sub on and 5.1 and all.
I was getting pretty into the game....
One of the rooms, something crashed through the ceiling.
I darn near wet my pants!!!
I turned it directly off - no saving or anything. OFF! I carefully checked all the doors and windows, went upstairs to my bedroom and locked myself inside and couldn't sleep for a few hours.
I didn't play that one again for about a year!

Resident Evil 2 was very hip, back in the day...

I still play that to this day, I don't know why, but its still fun.

I thought F.E.A.R. was good too.

and yeah, F.E.A.R was pretty creepy too

Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II!! WOO!!! I was running through my mind for so long trying to think of that game. haha thank god I finally remembered or it would've bugged me for so long.

WAAAYYYY back in the day, The Seventh Guest used to freak the hell outta me.

Granted this is an OLD-SCHOOL computer game. The game itself was actually DOS-based... But it had beyond amazing graphics for it's time, and some of the scenes in the game had me too spooked to sleep at night.

Don't scoff 'cause of it's age if you've never seen it. It was freaky, man.

Definitely. I didn't think it was as good as Seventh Guest, but still way ahead of it's time.

i vaguely know which game you are referring to, it was recently mentioned in a top 10 scary games countdown by gametrailers.com...

can't remember the name though.

Pokemon Snap.

It's a shame that I remember this, but like 3 seconds after that zubat to your left there is a ghost which turns out to be koffing or something like that. Too bad you couldn't get a picture of it

Think I'm going to go 'man up' and watch the Ranger game though... that Pokemon Snap talk is getting to me.

I posted this in the other thread, but Thief III (especially Shalebridge Cradle), and to a lesser extent the previous two games, is pretty scary. Especially since you're not equipped to mow down your enemies and have to hide from them instead.

Fatal Frame

For me I think Resident Evil 2 and 3 and Silent Hill 3. I really want to play Silent Hill 2 and Doom 3 though. Hooray for sequels.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. I must've been about 10 at the time.
