Schecter Diamond P 5 (NBD)

I ended up finding the Tour Grade 20 MM Fits pretty nicely.

Probably the best inexpensive P style bass out there.
I'm looking forward to getting one. The 35" sold me on this.

COOL! Please let me know your thoughts. What color did you get?

Black...I'm in need of P bass for some upcoming root-rock material and I'm starting to swing back to 35" for 5 strings. I'm not a rosewood fan but I'm hoping the ceramic pickups make up for some of the blahzay vibe of rosewood.

If I dig it I will most likely leave the pickups stock and put in the Nordstrand pre with the splitter and a active/passive switch. It I like the way it plays and dont dig the pickups I will go for a cusom set of Norstrand pickups as well.

I would love to have a Ebony board version with little frets...It would be a punchy SOB.

I have little difficulty playing 5 String J basses (partially due to a heavy right hand attack) I clank a little on 34" scale B J style basses . (I don't notice it to much on basses that say have humbucking barts). The best bass I can achieve this on is SB5K for whatever reason.

This bass looks like a logicial - methodical step for me while waiting to get my next Valenti.

I basically got it because I wanted a cheap backup while gigging. I really wanted a Fender 5, but never liked the feel of the B, or the tone. I had a PDeluxe 5 2001, but didn't like the bridge pup. Lacked the bite that I get with my Diamond P 5. I'm leaving this one stock except for a new 3 string tree. I'm a maple fretboard guy too, but this board is pretty snappy.

John, thats good to hear, I like snappy (a lot...LOL)

I think I will look into that...Nino Valenti uses the 3 string tree as well.
I want to love it...and if so just get the pre (more so to match volume levels then anything else and occasionally dial in some umph.

Of course like you...Schaller buttons right away. ;)

So far so good...Clean natural sound B where I don't get a lot of clank (That was priority #1)

I really looking forward to hotrodding this one.
I plays decent (I think it could use a setup) I want to get a preamp in there right away...I wont "gig it" until I do.

The Mono strap helps keep that neck up.

Thats the first move in this trip...

Hey J New preamp should be here on Wednesday and I really like the bridge but I'm switching it out to a 18mm spacing.

Cool. What size spacing is the current bridge? I just finally added the 3 string tree, and it really makes a difference. Plus it looks a WHOLE lot nicer.

I think the spacing is slightly under 19mm and I actually prefer a tighter spacing and I can play progressively easier with it slightly tighter.

What kills me about these is the general tone you can hear from these basses for the price (I'm talking unplugged) the nature timbre from these instruments are on par with ones that cost several times the price.

Interesting on the 3 string tree...What benefit do you feel that you are getting from it?

Just for kicks:

I miss mine. I have no 35" fives anymore and if I get the itch for another, it will be another Schecter P5. I had the action lower on that bass than any other bass I've ever owned without a hint of buzz.

Well that answers that question..LOL
Thanks Immigrant.
