Schecter Diamond P 5 (NBD)

Everyone has different tonal needs/goals.

I actually prefer 2 different basic settings...Either the back pickup engaged with both coils and the P volume backed off a just a touch or the P volume up all the way and pickup in the back split to a single.

Amp wise I usually play flat (depending on the room) and the Revsound cabs which are pretty tight sounding.

mine's a '12, made in korea as well. one thing that i think has been mentoined already, is how stable the neck is. i got mine about a year ago now, and after the initial setup i havent touched the truss rod since. the action is low and smooth and the nut/frets were well done. quite impressive.

I've yet to play a bad Schecter.

I'm not really a P bass guy at all, but my main bass is a 35 inch scale passive Valenti J5. I think this would be a good back up/alternate bass for it. I get the P tone as well as the rear humbucker.

I'm not a P guy either :hiding:
However that pickup is very present so to speak.
So don't let the P thing stop you.

I'm playing a 35" scale Valenti as well a lot lately...In fact I'm recording with it more then any other bass right now just because how well it sits on a track. (I digress)

The big thing to know is this 35" scale will feel nothing like Nino's 35" scale. The Schecter feels like a lot more bass, just a fair warning. I personally do not mind it, just a heads up.

I when I play a Schecter it feels like a formal Q5 or something, Nino's 35 dont feel like a 35 to me.

Hope this helps

That's interesting. Mine feels like a 35 inch scale to me. Much more than the 34 inch scale Fender that I had.

I still think I wanna get one. Kinda wish the white came with Tort. Anyone know of an aftermarket?

I'm not sure if American deluxe would work, but if you send them one they will do it for you. I want one in Tiramisu. If you get one from here, let me know how it worked out.

Thanks man!

Two? You must dig these! :D

I do...Since its pretty different from m Valenti.
I do not own any J5s (of any brand, not even a Modulus any more) so this is taking up that space for me.

I really wish I could play a 5 string J like 4 string J...but the physicis of it does not work for me...Otherwise I would have Modulus FU5 and Carvin5 and be done in that realm.

The second one I'm having the pickups rewound (actually underwound 2%) and alnico. Same pre as the other.

Cheers

I don't have problems switching between 34 and 35. I just strongly prefer 35 inch scales and ordered my Valenti to be 35.

This bass will give me something different while still being a passive bass.

Tony, I'm curious how you discovered the J5 didn't work for you?

I owned a handful and played even more of them. I was recording a ton and working as the on call guy for 2 studios, and the playback on some stuff made me cringe when I played the B aggressively on just about any J5. (Less on the Carvin SB5K)

I can play them...but I have to change the way I play and I rather not as much as possible. I wail the piss out of B on a MM but not a J 5 LOL.

I hear you, man. You gotta go with what works for you!

I just placed an order for a Schecter Diamond P5! :)
