Schecter Model-T - Some Questions...

I just had a few questions about the Model-T bass:

1) The one I'm currently eyeing has Seymour Duncan vintage P/J pickups (VPB-P, VPB-J), and an Alder body. Should I be expecting a vintage Fender-like tone, or something different?

2) How does the playability compare to a Fender P or P/J bass?

3) How many of you upgraded the pickups on your Model-T? If you went the EMG route, why?

4) How many prefer an original Fender to this bass, and why?

All answers are appreciated!

plenty of threads on this one...Do a search and you'll find some good info.

I love mine! It sees plenty of action considering I have Laklands and a Sadowsky. It has the real Duncan's and not the "duncan designed" pickups. I like the stock bassline pu's and I can get some great ranges of passive tones. I think most who upgraded the PU's had the old crappy pickups. I'd check on the weight, mine is under 10 lbs, but I've heard of some tanks out there.
The fretwork IMO, was much better than the MIM fender stuff. As far as the tone goes, my bass came with rounds, but I much prefer flats on that bass.

In sum, great bass for the money. I prefer mine over my USA Pbass.

Do they make a lefty???

Actually, I did search. Not much info on the ones equipped with vintage-style SDs.

Yes, they do make a lefty... but it's the vintage-style SDs on the particular (and only) lefty I've found that have me curious, as I've usually seen them with Duncan Designed (ugh), SD Basslines, or EMGs.

It's good to hear your opinion, though, because as a Schecter fan, I'm seriously considering picking up a Model-T in the future.

I'm just hoping that there's still a lefty floating around a few months from now...
