Hi guys,
I play thrash and I need 5 string bass, so which would be better?

Epi
+NTB
+awesome look
+Mahogany + 7pcs neck
-20 frets/17 playable

Schecter
+35"
+24 frets playable
+cheaper than Epi (~40% in Poland)
-bolt-on (?)

:help:

I own a 4 string epiphone thunderbird and i agree with the love hate relationship, i would definatly plump for the schecter. I've had some bad experieces with my epiphone, but if you are looking for a 5 string in that price range I would highly recomend the sterling by music man ray 35. I own the 4 string version (not a 5 string player myself) and it is brilliant I love it to bits, it is all the same specs as the music man just made in the far east. Each bass even passes through the US factory to be set up and checked so you get some awsome value for money. But if it;s not your thing id also say go schecter.

I recently purchased a 4 string stiletto. The thing sounds fantastic and plays like a dream. I bought it as a back up for my G&L and sometimes I have a hard time deciding which one to play. Just an FYI the stiletto is a neck-through.

Get the Schecter! I just got my Extreme 5 (see-thru black) and it is awesome!! I have played an Epi Les Paul 4 string since '96 when I bought it new. Hands down a great bass for the cash! The tapered neck is extremely comfortable. The nut width measures 1.78". I have played the Epi TbirdProV and have found this uncomfortable to play with. The neck seems really wide and huge. The sound was good enough. And it was about 1& 1/2lbs. heavier. The Extreme 5 has a 6 bolt on maple neck that is very sturdy. G&L uses a 6 bolt on design as well. Just for an editorial note; HugeInJapan, The Schecter Stiletto Extreme is bolt on. The Elite and the Studio versions are Neck-Through. Either way Awesome bass for an awesome price!
