Schroeder 610?

but here is what I responded in part to Jorg's email this morning asking me if it arrived here safely.

Yes it sure did and I used it last night with my Eden WT800 because I'm so used to it. It was an outdoor medium venue with a hexagon shaped stage (no bandstand effect) It was clear and powerful. It is the first single cabinet I have ever used that is this tight. I was looking for more lows like 40-100 but that is why I mention the venue. It is a tough one for bass for sure. Is there a break in period with neo's where the speakers have to wear in a bit or is that a myth? If so how many hours do you calculate? Thanks for doing this Jorg, very much. Did I mention this 610L is about the same weight as one 210XLT let alone the 410XLT @ 98. This is the 610 rig I have been using for a long time and it weighs in @ 166 pounds. I'm thinking this 610L is going to put the Edens in the garage.

I received my 610L on Friday. Same footprint as a Schroeder 410, but about 9" taller. Very easy to move around with the placement of the handles (and optional casters), and pretty light, considering it is a 610. No problem at all carrying it up the stairs in my house, or popping it into the back seat of my sedan. I had some of Saturday to play it solo at home. Verry very nice. But after playing Saturday night in a medium size bar/club, and the next day on an outdoor gig, all I can say is that the 610 was beautiful. Both bands are top 40 cover bands that get verrry loud.

When I first wheeled it into the bar on Saturday, my band mates got a little worried because they noticed it had two extra speakers LOL. But once we got playing, it was just
perfect. I didn't need to push it to get a great tone. Solid - deep low end, smoooooth mids and highs (not harsh to my ears as some cabs can get), punchy, and a tight tone all around. A very fast cab. It cut through the mix so perfectly, and the bass just filled the room without sounding thin at all. And that was the indoor gig where I couldn't really crank it up.

On the outdoor gig, I ran it harder without PA support. And to my surprise, it kept all of the same characteristics as the night before (there was some amp tweaking involved to compensate for the difference in venues, but you get the idea)! It didn't lose a thing at the higher volumes. And whats better, I wasn't pushing it to it's limits. There was plenty more volume to be had that I didn't even need. It will be overkill for the smaller bars that I sometimes play, but I won't have to guess what to bring on the larger gigs which is nice. I did not use the tweeter, so I can't comment on that (I know, I know).

It's just real nice to see a lot of great cabs coming out lately. More quality choices for all different styles.

That's what I'm wondering... what amp?
I used my WT800 with my 610L and really liked it. Next gig I'm trying the Aggie DB750 and I think this is going to be a great match.
By the way the cabinet is 5.x ohms and I was bridging the Eden by the end of the night... and it ran cool and crisp with no issues.

It seems he's gone away from the folded horn type design with this one. Kind of weird since it seemed to be one of the key features of his other designs.

Maybe he's just giving the bass playing community what they want. Front facing arrays of tens...

Sorry about that. The Thunderfunk is no longer. Both gigs were with a Carvin BX1200 which is 1200w bridged at 4ohms. I tried it with the B1500 which was great, but that was solo'd, and not in a live situation. I may be trying it out with a DB750 at this weekends gig to see how they match up.

Reading about your situation was definitely a factor in deciding to go for a 610L. I too have a 210212L Flight Ready and Jorg is building a 610 for me as we speak. :D I'm looking for more punch, and according to Jorg, the 610 is definitely the right cab for the job.
