SCORE!! Trace Elliot V8 coming in!

Well, the brown truck did arrive today, but I am very sad to report that much like Oddio's Hexa Valve, we now have one less classic Trace tube head in the world. :bawl:

Picks below...

Psych!!! :p Shane really does know how to pack an amp, and it has arrived in pristine shape! :hyper: Except for the two small marks on one side, there is not a single scratch or mark on this thing. Very clean! And I love those big shiny knobs! They are more substantial than I had gathered from the pictures. Great handles, too.

I hope to be able to play it tomorrow (today/tonight are booked), and I will be sure to report back.

For now, I feel like Ralphie with his Red Rider Lever-Action BB Gun With This Thing in the Stock What Tells Time! :D

Tom.

Gah!!! I was totally taken in, and it was like rubbing salt in a wound. Do NOT get me going on the subject of UPS and classic Trace amps. Anyhow, I'm truly glad that your V8 arrived in one piece despite your mischievious trickery!

I'm looking forward not only to your report, but to the white truck that should be arriving here before the weekend (but that's a topic for another thread).

Enjoy!

I did feel a little bad about that, I and hoped that you would take my little "trick" with humorous intent. My goal was not to revisit an old "wound" for you. Forgive me? ;)

If I miss that other thread, be sure to give me a nudge!

Okay, this is a very, very preliminary report, but I just had a chance to briefly play my new V8 over lunch, and I just had to report back. Being aware of the theory that it ain't mine until I post a picture, here are a couple of shots of the V8 with my "Super Wizzy" 2x12's made by Steve Azola:

This shot sort of reminds me of Oddio's shot with the two ACME Low B-2's which taunted me so... :p

And here is a shot with a flash that shoes some of the details a bit better:

As you can see, one of the Super Wizzy's has its ports "stuffed." This is a means of being able to convert them from a ported to a sealed cab. For now, I think I will leave all the ports open.

Needless to say, this rig sounded good! Dang good! The V8 has certainly lived up to my expectations so far, but much, much more testing is due...

Later, Tom.

Sorry for my absense of late but it arrived last saturday, its frightfully efficient. That and the V4, it really cannot get any better than that really..? All that needs to happen now is to become famous and buy loads of them and pay someone else to shift them...! Despite its size (nearly 4ft high) and its excessive weight (81.4 kg), the thing is wonderful. I never realised an infinite baffle enclosure could be so efficient, I've only ever used vented boxes really. 8x10s are the way forward...!
