Today I walked into our local pawnshop, which generally has overpriced crap, and hanging on the wall is a Mark Hoppus P bass in teal blue for 300 bucks. I asked to see it and it was in excellent shape. I told him I'd give him 250 on account of it was the cheap version of the Fender P bass... just one knob and all... they had no idea what it was. I waited until I got around the corner to do my stoked dance, which is kind of like a rabid weasel on ecstacy.

I want to hear your score stories!

BTW...Plays like butter.

Pics?

Congrats! I love scoring something from a store that doesn't know what they have. Even better when its a pawnshop, notorious for feeding on people's desperation.

And sometimes I can score a deal when the seller doesn't know what they have. Just talking tonight to a nonplaying buddy of mine about buying a tremolo bridge that had an aftermarket high mass block. Saw that in the pic, but the guy listed it as going rate for the stock unit.

Also years ago when I was into shooting bought a pistol that had been listed as a different model. Priced according to the book for that model when it was in fact a different more expensive model all together.

Sort of the opposite of caveat emptor. If a seller is unaware of what they have then is it my responsibility to educate them? Nah....
