Sealed Crossfiring 6x10 build

JGR, I loaded the crossfire with the berg drivers and low and behold, it sounds exactly like when it was loaded with the betas. I stuck my head into one of the speaker openings and started talking. There is alot of ring in there and it is not dead like the berg or ampeg cabs. The stuffing don used is the same type used in most ported cabs and it's not doing much for the sealed cab. So, I stuck in 3 small scraps of matress topper that I had into the cab and most of the ring went away. So, Im going to walmart tonight after work to get some foam and re-line this cab. I do prefer the faital's tone to the beta's by the way so, if the faitals work out I may go for the full 8x10. Maybe this crossfire design isn't dead in the water afterall. I'll post back tomorow, my home computer is still dead.

Cool. Lack of proper damping/stuffing seems common with the LDS cabs for some reason.

He had a good 2-3" of stuffing in the cab but, it's the wrong material. There is a big difference. I did the same thing to my sealed 15/8 cab. The berg drivers probably do have alittle more low end than the betas but, this won't hurt. The betas sounded alot better in the ampeg cab, I'd actually be fine with the way they worked in the 8x10 but, the bergs still had alittle extra fatness to them. I lined my 2x12 guitar cab (sealed, loaded with V30's) with mattress foam and it really dried up the sound.

Acousta-Stuf Polyfill Speaker Cabinet Damping Material also works well for this but it's expensive. I picked some up to stuff a midrange chamber on a previous project. I think the recommended use is 0.5 lb/ft3

It was rainning out today so I put in extra time with the experiments. The stuffing made a noticable difference in the crossfired cab using the berg drivers as it did with the betas. The bergs still have alittle more low end and less of a lower mid bump. The berg drivers are a bit dark but, they are great drivers. Hopefully I'll get the faital drivers in time to load them in the berg cab and play them alittle before this weekends gigs. I already know that I will end up using either all faitals or else 4 bergs and 2 faitals.

Compared to the Beta, you should be able to get about 4dB more SPL out of the 10FE200 (or B810) from down low to about 150 Hz, plus more top end, so I think it's a good move all around.

After a bit of delay the faitals will be showing up today. Figures, it's the one day this week that I'll be working a double. Out of town all day thursday followed by an acoustic gig thursday night and regular gigs on friday and saturday. So, I guess the wife won't see me on wednesday.
