Searching for a Short Scale

I had the Gibson DC and loved it. The ONLY reason I let it go was the slab body. When sitting to play it just hit the wrong nerve in my forearm and I couldn’t play for prolonged amounts of time. That aside, I wish I still had it for gigging. It sounded huge, played great and balanced just right.
Yes. I have one and found it quite uncomfortable on the forearm.
I really liked it and do not want to sell it so: Enter the power sander.
Now it´s arm-contoured and it is just great. I did not refinished it. Just oiled.
It is a very good bass, very full and even from lows to highs.

Note: I also contoured a SQ Bronco, which is similar to the JMJ.

25. 2021Rickenbacker 4005XC Fireglo

i dig ALL of them.
my most recent one is the black Squier Jaguar (my second one). I had a silver one about 5 years ago and i loved the look of it but the neck was just too tiny for me (both at the nut and the heel) so i sold it. since they've been discontinued for a few years now, used ones are getting pricey. i found and bought one about 2 months ago, but again, the neck was too small for me and felt like a toy so i bought an aftermarket rosewood block & bound neck for it ( which i slightly reshaped and shot it with nitro) that is much wider both at the nut (42mm and at the heel 2 1/2") and i replaced the pickups with a fender RI P bass an a Dimarzio model J for the bridge. i love it now.

if you have any questions about any of the basses on my list just ask and i'll try to answer them.

Well, I can say I'd recommend the MK II Wattplower for sure. Hands down some of the hugest passive low end I've ever heard, but the member on page 1 that mentioned it has more high end than a typical P is also very correct (for the record, I like HOT sounding P style basses specifically anyway so this wasn't a drawback at all to me). So yeah, definitely more lows AND highs than all the standard Fender P's I've tried if that works for you.

The DC junior does look tempting to me as well though. I like T-birds and their pickups, but I also love the "sweet spot" thing too. Plus they're not bad looking aesthetically at all (seems like the double cut style either looks awesome or really doesn't, and the former is the case w/the DC jr. IMHO).

You're missing a Rickenbacker 3000 in your short scale collection.

nope. i love it especially after modding more to my liking with a single ply black pickguard and powder coated black puckup cover. and it's the lightest weight one that i could find at under 8lbs. (7lbs 11 oz).

The JMJ Mustang is good but the E string is kind of floppy (if you know what I mean). I'm really happy with my Danelectro Longhorn, especially when I put a piece of foam underneath the strings at the bridge. Great thump.
I also have a Hofner Club bass which is a different sound but also really nice.

I have an '08 Reverend Watt prototype and a '21 Squier Mustang.

The Watt is everything I wanted in a Precision, just in a shorter scale. The Mustang is brighter, with the same strings, and also has a thinner neck. It also has significantly lower output.

I would say if you're looking for a short scale, Precision necked firebreather, go with the Watt.
If you want something a little more short scale Jazz feeling with vintage output, go with the Mustang.

If I were going with the Watt it would be the II with Humbucker neck pu.
