Secret Service and Prostitutes?

Please don't be offended by this, but you sound exactly like my father! I love my father, by the way, but he drives me nuts sometimes!

You can say "I don't need any reporting from the news" but it doesn't mean you don't need to get accurate facts from somewhere. Where do you get the facts that your common sense needs to form opinions and conclusions? How can anyone create anything of value on a foundation of half-truths and errors? Inaccurate reporting makes it impossible for us to make informed decisions. It creates that half-cocked condition my dad seems to like. A dangerously misinformed public is off to the polls! OHHHH, NOOOO!

To your second point, no one suggested that the potential for problems didn't skyrocket when the party hats came out. All the authorities, including the White House, agree it did not get substantially higher than it always is since they got caught.

What concerns me the most about the situation (assuming the broad strokes are somewhat factual) was the scope. You get a few close buddies together, they might stretch out a little, and do one or two things that could have deep and bloody ramifications. This group was too large, and they committed too many different potentially career-ending stupid acts too far out in public.

It might have been a matter of mass hysteria, or maybe some of the locals tabbed them all for a joke, but I think the most likely answer is that they have a major league culture problem over there.

A little of the arrogance that comes from knowing you protect the president and thinking that makes him your buddy who will protect you, the junior high locker room behavior that comes out whenever three or more men get together, the feeling of invincibility federal employees get from knowing it is hard to get fired, the excruciating boredom of doing the same simple tasks over and over again, and way way too much booze.

They always talk about election years in hushed tones, because they are very stressful times for them. I'll bet they'll really remember this one.

Again I do not need news reports on the inaccuracies or accuracy of what the world knows should not even be happening.

I have on many occasions had security assigned to me and I had the final say so on whether I felt some one might not be up to task. And If I or any one with me that were suppose to be protected would have gotten hurt or worse I would not be asking trivial question. And I'm not the president of the USA nor am I putting myself at the same level..

That's the amazing part. You CAN'T be dumb, and get hired by the Secret Service. An attorney friend of mine took the test when he was younger, and said it was bar none, the most difficult test he has ever taken, including anything done in law school.

I respectfully propose that that is not true for any federal agency! It is surprisingly hard to get top shelf applicants for some of these jobs, when the applicants have to start signing mobility agreements (four to five different posts in a twenty year hitch), codes of conduct that prohibit extramarital sex, drug testings waivers. A real lot of folks blanch at all the travel. When they gear up for election years, they promote uniformed guys and have to go on the hiring binges that always end badly.

And smart people do dumb things. They are not always smart, like a blue car is always blue. Smart people are imperfect, human. Every smart person I know has blown it at one time or another. Except me, and some of these saintly TB guys, apparently.

Now if you were to say that that you cannot be homely and get hired by the SS, I'm standing right behind you. And off to the side, a little bit.

..

But you should want to know what happened.

I wasn't in Cartagena, I got contradictory news reports, I'm pretty sure something pretty spectacular happened down there, but I can't say I know what it was. Until I meet someone who was there, or we get some factual reporting, I'm not going to know what happened, either.

But you should want to know what happened.

Of course and I would look into it through proper channels but again I could care less about what the news organizations may be saying or not saying.

I'm sure we all can agree that the SS was out of line on this one.

All it takes is one prostitute for the history books, as being a big help in the assassination of the president of the USA.

You sound like my long lost brother. Except I do something stupid daily.

I used to act under the guise that I was adopted, as it made me feel better as a youth who couldnt relate tot he rest of my family... maybe I am your long lost brother. Is your Dad from Jamaica?

Im pretty sure I do something stupid daily as well. Multiple times a day, in fact.

No matter Palin's buffoonery, she IS a MILF! Anyway, the agent is a dumbass. Even local yokel me knows not to post work related stuff on facebook!

To be VERY clear, I am in NO WAY referring to Palin's party or political aspirations. I'm merely referring to her penchant for misspeaking. Politically, which is of course off limits here, I am neither a conservative nor a liberal, and will not speak in support or the detriment of either. So Dave...please don't take my original post as a slam on anyone's political views.

I not really sure, because this guy, sometimes he makes me think he is not really my father!

"MY MIND IS MADE UP!"

It wasnt until the last few years that Ive realized my adoptive father has very similar ideas to me on a lot of subjects.
He's a bit stubborn, as any Leo would be, and being a Leo myself, I can be in some regards, but Im always willing to listen to a new perspective and welcome the opportunity to be proven wrong, for thats how we learn and grow.

Oh, and Im not really adopted.

Also, I am not, to my knowledge, Jamaican.

If your definition of a dumb thing is letting your significant other catch you checking out the waitresses tail, sure. If your definition of a dumb thing is a work-related endeavor where you nail a hooker and don't pay her...then we're at odds on how far to take the idea that "smart people do dumb things". In the first example, IMO, the person is still considered 'smart'. In the second example...no intelligent human being pulls that stunt. Sorry - not in my book.

Yeah, cuz if he had paid her he'd have been smart, and none of us would be talking about this right now.

I'll skip the lines and maybe change it to body shots, but I'm right there with you!

+1
