Sorry for being a little late on this. Bit of a family crisis up here at the mo..

Geez Paddy, broken scaphoid. What did I say about falling correctly !!

It's a potentially nasty injury if not diagnosed straight away. My brother thought he'd just sprained his wrist (he's says making a tackle during a football match but I know the way he plays footie, a real goalhanger !!) and didn't go to the Doc. When he did eventually go, a cyst had developed in the break. First they put in some artificial bone in the break, which didn't take, then grafted some bone from his hip. This time he's on the road to full recovery.

Luckily, you won't have any of those problems...!!

When someone mentioned Kev Lindsey, I thought I recognised the name. He lives up this way and I have his e-mail address somewhere. I'll type to him and try to get him in the S.O.C.

It's in a cast at the moment and I go to the fracture clinic next Monday to find out if I need that pin.

Bear with the wait though - it's so nearly there now. Just anticipate that moment when the case is cracked open for the 1st time and you catch your 1st glimpse of her Tis poetry man

The worst bit of waiting for me was when Martin phoned asking what gauges I wanted on it. From that point was painful...

Another good day was Wednesday, when Jen accepted my Valentine's Day marriage proposal. I really must have been good in a previous life to deserve her !!

Helloooooooooooo!!!!

Well boys, here you all are talking about Sei Basses, and I wasn't informed until today - how dare you!! hahahaha!!

Mike Flynn - my influence extends across many forums huh? Glad you have seen the wisdom in my selection of basses and decided to follow my path of wisdom!!

Actually, I gotta tell you that an ebony board on a singlecut is gonna be SO punchy!! The singlecut makes the neck exceptionally stiff, and the notes really "pop" out when played. Slapping provides an incredibly fast transient response (I guess because all the vibrations are being transmitted due to the solid nature of the neck/body). As for the Nordstrands - they have all the "bark & bite" I have ever wanted. Simply wonderful units. ou know how sometimes a solo-ed jazz style pickup can be rather "nasal"?? Well the Fat Stacks (or the Big Single equivalent) have ll the j-style punch, but the larger coil means they read more of the "speaking length" of the string, so sound much fuller and more musical in their solo-ed format.

I am having yet anther singlecut made for me - maple mahogany neck, mahogany wings (slightly thicker than normal and chambered) and macassar ebony full facing front & rear). Gonna use the fat Stacks by Nordstrand once again. This will be the 8th Sei I have commissioned - not indulgent in any way - all completely justified!! hahahahaha

The buckeye burl faced Singlecut is a 34" scale job. Rosewood board with white LED side dots - very cool!!! Abalone front dots.

The rest is just standard Sei spec - built to last and plays like a dream!!

When I got the Singlecut, I took it back after a couple of months to have it "tweaked" following the initial settling in period, and since then it has just played effortlessly - incredible bass!!

I went back to London after 2 months so the bass had been played in and setteld. had some fret ends dressed and the frets recrowned after shooting to allow for the adjustment to my own preference of neck relief and action. very simple job, and took about an hour all in - no problems.

I am onna be down in london at the start of April (was gonn abe down in a couple of weeks time as well, but that has been postponed for now), so I'll get to see how my new fretless singlecut is coming along as well - yippee!!!

The fretless Sei Jazz 5 with the quilted maple top? I have played that instrument and it just RINGS!!! Fantastic playing bass - you've got yourself a great bass there!!

Here's a review of my old Lightwave equipped Sei Fretless (at the time, it was the first instrument in Europe to have one of the infra-red pickups fitted to a bass!!)

Its hanging on the wall between the two guitars, is it not? You can't really tell its not a Fender without a close look.

Nah, the one hanging between the two guitars is a fretted Jazz 5 (with a P-Bass style pickup under the chrome cover.

The fretless I referred to was the one someone posted earlier - bought off Paul Turner. i have played that at Paul's house and it is a great bass!!
