I saw your bass at the Gallery and it was so nice that I took it home with me! Joking apart it did look totally fantastic and had been all routed out. Martin was infact working on it whilst I was there so be assured that it won't be too long now [Martin's words].

Martin did stress how busy he was and indeed I spent very little time actually talking with him so that he would not get distracted. I did try a very nice Focus amp which I could be tempted by over the coming months. 800w and only 4.5 lbs in weight. I also looked at a PJ briefcase and flightcase. They now have neo speakers and are really really lightweight!

Unfortunately Martin did not have the time to show me any other basses in production so I cannot comment on progress. Sorry guys.

Regards

Matthew

Hi!

I ordered my Sei about 6 weeks ago - I'm just wondering what the next step usually is? Will Martin need any more info from me? Or will it be a case of going to the Gallery to have a look at what he's done so far? If he's going to need some from me soon I'd better get researching on it!

All the basses that have come back from Martin recently look amazing. Do they sound as good as they look? I'm sure they do. Are there any sound/video clips of them being played we can see?

Aidan

You'll probably find Martin hasn't progressed your bass very far - your only 6 weeks into a 10 month build :p

You'll find you won't hear very much at all for what seems like really long periods. Martin will only get in touch if he needs something from you, like info on an incomplete spec. Or he needs you in for something like looking at neck profiles. This lack of feedback can lead to it's own frustrations - just ask Mistahbenn.

By not hearing anything you can rest assured Martin's got all the info he needs for the time being and can chug along.

Best thing is to sit back and relax, it'll all come good in time. Just keep revisiting your spec and research those bits your not sure/decided on yet.

Hi Juan,

If you have a look here you can hear Alex play his series 11 singlecut 4 string. Sounds great!

I am into the final week of my build according to him, will be ready by monday! (Fingers crossed!!!!)

Peace

Aidan, Paddy is right in that there will be very little for you to see for quite some time. He cut the facing woods quite quickly with the Sei 8, but it was a further 6 months before there was much else to see (a common experience shared with many other Sei waiters). That time and the last few weeks are likely to be amongst the hardest waiting times.

Mistahbenn, YES! :bassist: :hyper: :bassist: What a great Monday next week will be (all being well)! A bit excited by any chance?

Just heard that my bass is delayed another week whilst a different bridge is ordered, they could use a 2nd rate one, but that would be silly. :(

Bummer, but at least the consistent message is that it will be worth the wait.

Paddy, are you going to do some pictures after your upcoming visit to The Gallery, or are you a fellow meanie and going to wait until it is finished?

Bassplayer2106, nice bass especially the Burl Myrtle. Sorry but for me it would need to be fretless before it would start whispering "buy me".

Hey guys -finally got up the Gallery after a few weeks away - and my bass is finally taking shape - it's looking great even in its rough and ready state, plus the facings look like they will smoooth up and look utterly sick - or totally gorgeous - whichever way they are going to be brilliant. The bass also feels nice and light so that when all the hardware is added it should be more or less the exact weight I want.

Anyway - an all important pic from my Sony phone's cam (it's surprises me with the quality of it every time!) - I have a shot of the back as well but as it's still pretty rough and ready I'm not going to post it out of respect for Martin.

I finally made it through all 41 pages! :D

Seriously, I am completely envious of all of you Sei owners. The Flamboyant and headless models have to be the most beautiful basses I have ever seen, period. 7strings' bass (in particular) has become my current wallpaper. HA!

I'd love to order one a Sei, but the exchange rate between pounds and the american dollar is just unreal. Oh well....maybe one day. ;)

Anyway, thank you all for posting up those BEAUTIFUL basses. Please....don't let me stop ya.
