Hi Matthew. Yep, collected it yesterday. Spent several hours Thursday and Friday playing it; Martin's made a couple of adjustments and I can now say it's the finest sounding and playing bass I've ever played. It's unbelievable. Although others have expressed doubts about the Bare Knuckle pickups, for me, allied to the construction of the bass (very bright) they give me everything the Barts in my old basses didn't. It's punchy, zingy, growly; utterly, utterly wonderful. And it's light as a feather, which is great for me. I'll try and post pics as soon as I've taken some. I'm really pleased to own one of Martins creations again. The only downside is I'm probably going to have to sell something else to help pay for it!

Mike, I also spent a fair bit of time ogling your bass. It looks wonderful, and I was trying to work out what I could sell so that I could afford to order one like it!

Melt congratulations on your new bass I think it is wonderful and even though I have seen it in the flesh, and I must confess played it, I am really looking forward to seeing some photo's. Because untill you post the photo's you know that the bass does not officially exist:D

I agree about what you say about Sei's, of all the high end basses I have owned, Sei's are still the ones that make me smile every time I open the case to play them. It is the shape the woods the tone, playability, simply everything about them just seems right.

Of course I am biased but then again I can be if I so wish.

Melt, really glad that bass went to a good home and that you are so pleased with it. It is a wonderfully unique looking and sounding bass. :bassist:

Shannons, thanks for the kind comments and I agree with your thoughts re SEI basses (in a biased way). My personal view is Martin is right up there in the very small group of ultra talented world class bass makers. America seems to have its fair share too and I can’t wait for my holiday to California in August to try them out, especially Nordstrand, Roscoe and Sadowsky.

Mistahbenn, any update re your new SEI that might have been ready today?

Haven't been able to post recently due to one thing or another !! I've been getting the updates on e-mail though..

Great to hear that there is progress on all fronts !!

My Sei 7 (Jezebel) continues to amaze me with the superb tone and feel. It really is a fantastic instrument and I wouldn't be without it now..

Sorry guys, been missing for a few days - busy at work and busy setting up my new company. Going IT contracting so if anyone needs a decent MS SQL developer they had better look elsewhere :hiding:

And Melt makes number 20. PM sent. I've had a little play on that bass, very nice indeed.

News on mine is that it's sitting there awaiting my thumbs up so it can go to the finishers :eek:. Further along the road than I expected, gonna try and get up there tomorrow if I can but probably next Tuesday. If anyone pops along feel free to take a looksie.

Hey Paddy

You bet it is - I'm seriously in love already... I am very happy with the facings and I think the wood choice of ash and maple is going to make some wonderful tones.

Re the board Martin said it should be on within the next couple of weeks - so it's all good - the buckeye looks even better close up and it's nowhere near finished yet - it's going to rawk! big time...

PS Melt - that's a wicked bass you have there - I've played it many times and I'm so pleased it has a good, loving, home - it's a truly fab four-stringer... congrats.

Thanks Mike. Martin's actually lowered the action a bit so it plays even better for me now. Martin said he was glad it was going to a good home too! It sounded bloody awesome through the EBS rig in the shop; unfortunately I think I'm going to have to upgrade when I can afford it. Love your bass BTW! If I got another Sei, it would be like yours I think.

Paddy, I don't think the bass I saw was yours then as it was Thuya I think. Can't wait to see yours then!
