Why would you assume that an officer would invent a story? Do you think that our police officers would open fire on any group of kids in a vehicle leaving an area, without 'cause?'

What exactly have you seen many, many times? Do you have a lot of corruption in France, or what? Should he just have thrown cheese at them, or something?

I gotta back him up here Diggler. I know I try to shoot at groups of kids on a regular bases. At least once a week or so.

Im assuming the man panicked when the kids left without paying, thought hed lose his job and thus shot at them, killing one. Not without cause as you put it.

I've seen many many times, while living in the US (although I see it far more happening in France btw) that cops justify abuse of power by bull**** stories. This just sounds an awful lot familiar is all.

Look, I just think its much more plausible the man panicked at the idea of losing his jobs because they left without paying, or was pissed off, either one, and shot warning shots which accidently ended up killing a man, rather than the thieves trying to run over an ARMED security guard with a car.

No cop's going to lose his job for failing to apprehend some kids who left without paying their tab. Police officers don't take shooting at suspects lightly... just firing a shot relates into a LOT of paperwork, let alone the mental anguish and second guessing themselves every night on whether they made the right decision or not.

Wow, just wow.

You think he shot the kid TO AVOID LOSING HIS JOB? You're just making less and less sense. That's even sillier than it being inexcusable what he did without it being his fault. And, no, you haven't already explained that one.

Accidents happen, i meant it wasnt his fault in that sense. He may have wanted to fire warning shots which ended up killing a man.

I dont think he meant to kill, I think he meant to scare.

I don't know how they do it over there in France, but we don't do warning shots here. I'd like to hear some of your tales of police abuse. I know in fact, the other day, I had a 9 year old steal a pack of gum. He started to run away, so I tazed him. He tried to get back up after the initial stun, so I zapped him a few more times just to watch him "do the chicken" on the ground. After I got him up, I smacked him with a flashlight a few times just for good measure. I mean, what was I supposed to do? I was terrified I was going to lose my job if he got away.

So if a kid 20 feet away pulls a knife and walks slowly towards you, you shoot him without a warning shot?

That's alright, Morf.

In any case, while I'm really not into the whole flag-waving pissing contests that are going on with those involved, I do feel a need to question why there are so many people arguing with someone who put Gene Simmons first in his list of bass influences. That strikes me as being just the slightest bit pointless.

Are you beginning to undertand what I meant now about opinions being a waste of time in these circumstances? "You think" he wanted to scare the kids. I think you haven't got a clue about why what happened, happened. Now, let's see, where does that get us.... er.... ?

And what I mean is, if I havent a clue, noone else here as a clue. So opinions matter when noone has a clue. :)

Ok ok, it may not matter, my opinion as much as anyone elses' in this thread as a matter of fact, but I feel strongly about the topic and wanted to express my opinion as did many others, period.
