Any option to do home recording, with clients emailing you stems to work with?
I hope so. I actually reached out to some hiphop guys I know earlier today to offer myself for sampling and such. But performance is what I've positioned myself for, and is what has been my bread and butter for so long - the ability to learn 40 songs in a couple of days and look like I'm a part of a band that I've only just met is what I've trained to do... Without shows, I'm worried that I won't be able to make ends meet. There's still a couple of weeks before month's end, so hopefully no more gigs get cancelled and I've got my fingers crossed that I'll get some calls for recording. Keep yours crossed for me too, if you don't mind.

Highly recommend reading the article I linked, here it is again
Invalid Link Removed

Its full of current stats for the current strain and outbreak

Also as someone with family in Italy, I don't think they put the whole country on lockdown due to hype. Hopefully it will not affect you as much but I wouldn't brush it off.

Take care of yourself folks, the anxiety is definitely getting to many also. But being prepared and limiting social interaction in the affected area will literally save lives
Two things that jumped out at me from the article.

The number of cases in the U.S. is doubling every two days.

The American Hospital Association is projecting 96 million infected, with 480,00 deaths.

I'm lucky I already work from home composing. My kid's high school is closing for 4 weeks starting Monday. We're all healthy currently. We'll be doing the social distancing thing as much as possible, especially with older folks and our friends who have health issues. It's not hard. We should all err on the side of caution since even the experts are making it up as they go along.

I'm an IT guy at a state university. We just cancelled all face-to-face classes for the next 4 weeks. I'll still be going to work, but it will be a ghost town.

John

Oh, absolutely. I normally only do desktop support, so they're running us through training on how the online course system works tomorrow morning. I think they're also tapping my group to answer Help Desk phones as well. Good times ahead.

John

I'm in a very similar situation for a private liberal arts college in Minnesota. It's gonna be a real big change, and honestly it's been nice to have that challenge to focus on at work.

I plan on going to all the stores, cleaning off their shelves and then hoarding it all. I plan on buying 900 rolls of TP and a few hundred gallons of water, plus as much food as I can cram in my house. In other words I'll be like all the other panicking lunatics in our state.:rollno: If everyone would keep a level head and just do the right things to keep healthy, this would be over just like all of the other "pandemics" were. I don't think that will happen though based on what I'm seeing here.

Kudos to those working in the Healthcare Fields especially right now.

I'm in a healthcare-related field. I'll go to work. My wife is a doctor in private practice. She'll go to work. My kids will likely spend a few days a week hanging out in her office doing crafts and streaming TV on the computer. I'll take off as much as I can and hang out with them at home (maybe go to the beach). But because of what we do, my wife and I will go to work as much as possible. And the girls (although a little bored, perhaps) will be fine.

My parents are both in their 70s and both have heart disease. I won't see them for weeks starting now (unless this completely blows over more quickly than anyone assumes it will right now). Hopefully, they'll sit tight in their yard as much as possible for a while. My mother hoards food so I think they'll survive staying home for a bit.

Short version: Whatever time I'm at home will be spent with my girls and dog. If the weather is good, we'll pack a lunch and head for the beach.

Chicken Pox parties was a real thing back in the day. That's when parents had their kids play with someone who knowingly had the Chicken Pox so that their kid would get it and then become immune. It's worse to get Chicken Pox at an older age but that's rare. Also, if you had Chicken Pox before then you are susceptible to getting Shingles later in life. Shingles suck! What were our parents thinking?

I was so young I don't remember the party but my mom said she took me to one. But I do remember getting Shingles a few years ago. Thanks Mom. By the way, there is a vaccine for Shingles. I recommend getting it.

Reliable epidemiological data is coming in.

I would not be surprised if the government institutes a voluntary ban on all non essential public assemblies for 30 days by Sunday.

Schools will move to remote learning.

Businesses will be asked to suspend operations where employees can not work remotely.

Bars, amusement parks, sporting events ...nope.

The idea is to slow the spread so medical care will not be swamped.

My Chinese friends say the disease goes away when it gets warmer. I hope so.

I am going to the ranch and locking the gate. Edgar Allen Poe's "The Mask" is in the library as is the "A Distant Mirror" which has an excellent analysis of the medieval Bubonic Plague.

Mrs. and me could probably survive a year on what we've got in the house, but we're always like that. Lots of frozen, canned and dried food and as a hunter I have lots of frozen game meat in the freezers.

But I passed on my regular Thursday happy hour with Jack and boys down at the garage today for example, but we did go to the Super Store yesterday for a few extras like yogurt and cheese.

I may still attend my trio jazz jam on Wednesday if the other two want to do it. I may go see my songwriter pal tomorrow to consult on a song I'm preparing a bass line to add.

For some unknown reason, there has been a run on toilet paper in my neck of the woods. The runs isn’t a symptom of corona virus. Walmarts, costcos, Dollar General and anywhere that sells it is running low. Hand sanitizer is gone as is anything that is a disinfectant. If I have to stay home, gonna be copious amounts of bass playing going on.
Here in the UK....we ran out of bog roll last week as everyone is rush buying in case of sh1taggedon...Seriously....does every one need 40 rolls of loo paper. I have three massive supermarkets nearby (one is the 3rd largest store in the UK) and they are all out of common supplies. Flour, eggs, hand santiser and bog roll. All I can guess is there are a lot of people expecting to
a) self isolate
b) not heard of home shopping
c) forgetting that raiding the store drains the supply for the less able
d) expecting to do a lot of baking or pancakes in their down time

Personally....I've been sent home from work to Work from Home for a few days. It's fine by me...I'm going to do the whole day in my PJ's....and play bass in my lunch hour.

I'm responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of a major public transportation hub where over 80,000 people pass through each day. My staff is out there with gloves on trying to keep everyone else healthy. They deserve a standing ovation every day.

I can work from home some if need be, but I really need to be on site a lot of the time. One of my sons in responsible for tech support for the online classes for a major university. He's going to be busy as they try to put all of their classes online in the next week. My other son works for a major tech company which just told everyone to work from home. I have a daughter-in-law who works at Starbucks. It's affecting us all in one way or the other.

If I have to stay home due to exposure or illness, I hope my symptoms are "mild" so I can practice bass. Next step down would be Netflix. Lower than that, just rest & sleep. Oh, and wish I had stocked up on toilet paper.
Yes I think we are passed the "oh it's just a bit worse than getting a nasty cold" reaction. It's here...it's landed....people are being effected. I agree it's time to behave smart, act as a wise community and think about the vulnerable near by.

Looks like I will be mostly working from home for a while, and the wife already works from home so no issues here even if they start closing schools and whatnot (it's been discussed, but not implemented here in Finland). We've also been shopping (but not hoarding) some extra stuff, mainly to avoid going to the store that often.

Personally, being a healthy guy, i don't care one bit about it and i love to see people overreacting and politicians discussing and disagreeing till deep in the night. idk how it is in all of your parts of the world, but here the main headline usually is about the stock exchanges having trouble due to oil and corona. The vulnerability of this house of cards becomes obvious and somehow that gies me pleasure.

However, a fellow musician, with who i'm in 2 bands, has a muscle disease. If he gets a pneumonia it'll most likely be the end of him. So we don't rehearse with either band atm. Then, yesterday i was at my uncles funeral and no one shook hands or hugged. That was the weirdest funeral i've ever been to. Afterwards i went to the supermarket and some parts of it are empty. People buy all long lasting stuff like potatoes etc. I heard many people saying they'll work at home from now on.

Crazy times...
