One thing I've noticed on this thread, particularly of the on-stage photos, is that very few of you appear to, well, "dress up" so to speak. I mean, I guess I sort of expected that people performing on stage would be wearing a little nicer than jeans, t-shirts, and running shoes while performing for folks. NOT a dig in any way, shape, or form. Just an observation.

I tend to agree, although I would think jeans would be standard issue unless one is in a wedding/corporate event type band.
I pretty much always wear jeans, a western shirt, and boots. Although in the pics I posted I'm wearing vans as I need to resole my boots.
This is kinda how I dress anyway, so not really dressing up I guess.
I dress up almost all the time. The only time I will wear jeans to a show is if I'm too exhausted to do the work to dress up (happened once when I'd spent the night in the hospital and then went straight from there to a show) or if it's a really downscale venue like a biker bar. I don't get dolled up for the bikers in a blues joint. But usually I wear a dress, or at minimum a nice long top with leggings and nice shoes (I'm female, BTW, just so y'all know.).
It's kind of become my signature schtick to always be well-dressed and when I played a show recently the drummer in that band told me that he decided to choose a nice shirt and shoes because I had inspired him. So that was kind of nice to hear.
Depends on which band is playing and where. I'll wear jeans and a T-shirt for my dad band (see previous pic way earlier in this thread) and will wear something nicer for the rustic wedding/event band. We are kinda the house band for this venue and it's outdoors, so we don't have to go completely formal for a wedding.
We ( The Kolache Bros) mostly play outside gigs so this is my standard with rotating shirts

Also hold a lifelong habit of dressing well. That carries to stage, be it the on stage for corporate work, or on stage for gig.

I always try to be the best dressed person in the band onstage. Sometimes it doesn’t take much.

Pre-Covid -- my first gig ever on bass -- at a community music event. I was 61 then. I have since learned to play with a floating thumb.
Sat night, can't be too serious all the time.
Played a pretty nice new club two weeks ago. Nice stage, very well equipped, great house sound system, and very helpful sound crew. This was my first time playing without having to carry the room with just my amp and it was a real treat. The owner was very happy with the response we got from the crowd and from the staff and asked us to come back. He booked us for not just one but two shows later this year - for Memorial Day Weekend and for mid-August. Really looking forward to going back!
I definitely need to work on my stage presence. Most black metal bands smile more than I do!
At least I can attribute that to being such an old beginner, although I won't be able to get away with that excuse forever.

I notice you seem looking at your notes. I think the average player can up their game 500% by not looking at notes and not looking at your bass. If you do that, all of the sudden you’ll realize your on stage playing a gig
Oh, I'll totally agree with you, and it's something I've been working on since we reformed as the pandemic restrictions have started to ease. This was only our second gig since starting back up, but I've also been trying to eliminate that safety net during rehearsals.
Actually, at that gig, I only used my notes for two new songs that we debuted that night after trying them for the first time at a rehearsal earlier that week (we played 43 songs over 4 sets). Not sure what I was actually looking at in that shot, but the music stand with the lights is actually our singer's music stand and she only has the lyrics. My stand is the one in the bottom right corner of the shot.
Funny you mentioned being "on stage playing a gig". This was also the first time I played a gig where I was actually on a stage. I was REALLY aware of that all night, but not in a nervous, deer-in-the-headlights way. It was a new experience for me and I was having such a blast that the rest of the band got a kick out the "Gee whiz, golly!!!!" thing I had going on all night. I'm really looking forward to going back there.

I've been silver-haired for a while, but just turned 66 this year.
