I need to join in here. 65 years old been playing bass since my mid 20s. Took a few breaks from playing though.

What kind of gigs are you all playing? I'd like to play some gigs but prefer to avoid late night bar gigs playing to a room full of drunken 20-30 year olds...

I probably missed it but good to see a photo to put side by side with the many discussions we've had.

Hope your Christmas and New Year's were good too. We were discussing last night how this was a big year based on scheduling things in a different way to get exclusive time with our kids and spouses while still allowing for them to see others. Things change but those times are the best.

Just wanted to give appreciation to all you guys rocking past 55.
Most of my best and most longest lasting gigs have been with folks significantly older than me. In my 20's it was folks around 40, and in my 30's (and now 40's...) it's folks 55 and UP that I seem to be often working with.

The pups may scoff, but you all and your experience are appreciated by a lot of "young" players too.

That is to say appreciation tempered by jealousy. Don't be fooled by the 10 year old Avatar. Too g-dang many of you look younger than I who just crossed the 4-0.

57 here. She didn't take a lot of pictures on New Year's Eve but, sadly, this is actually the best one my wife got of me that night.

This was our first gig back after the pandemic. So, stupid look on my face or not, I was happy to finally get back out there. In my defense, our new keys player is quite good and I'm pretty sure I was watching him solo when she took this shot. Or maybe I really do look that stupid when I'm playing. Mostly likely, it's both.

Great to see all of us old dogs represented so well!!!

Not the most recent gig (we did a few things through the Summer / Fall and into the winter season before pandemic restrictions clamped down again) but this is me this past summer at a weekend-long music festival. If memory serves I'm about 3 weeks into my 58th revolution around the sun for this one...

I think you'll find all kinds of gigs represented here and elsewhere on TB.

We've been fortunate in playing all kinds of gigs, from street dances to "music in the park" types of gigs. I'm the youngest member of our 3 pc at 57 years old. At our age and being a 3 pc with drums/guitar/bass we aren't the type of group that attracts a ton of drunk 20-30 year olds. Very seldom do we play past 11 pm.

We still have fun and entertain the crowds we get.

Lol! I should hope not on the 20-30 drunk factor! The way your dance floor (er…dance grass) is angled, most might find themselves literally in the drink!
