I have the BS-DS. Not the Guild. Mine is the older one though and not the switchable.

Fun fact: Tim Lefebvre gave me his PUP to put in this bass. Couldn't pass that up.

Novak makes the BS-DS. You can switch it between Bisonic mode(like the Guild) to Darkstar. Super cool design.

Darkstar has less output.

I had no idea. My Darkstars (Hammond made) roar and I can't imagine low output being an issue with them. Is it a coil tap they use?

Number of windings - it's basically a coil tap, all (BiSonic) or only a part (Darkstar) of the coil.

Congrats on the Serek! Post pics when you get it. That B90 rips from what I've seen in demo videos and Jake's build quality is second to none. One of the most fun basses I've played in every aspect.

I was briefly corresponding with Jake about a single pickup Sacramento, but everything got put on hold while I was getting married. Now that things are starting to settle down, I’d like to pick the project up again. Soon, I hope!

Finally put my Midwestern through the paces with a full band yesterday and man do these things deliver. Sits perfectly in the mix. Full and authoritative sound. Best advice...if you have the chance...pick up a Serek. These things are spectacular on every level. Style/Fit & Finish/Playability/Tone. Get to take it in to the studio next month.

Looks like a couple of weeks or less ETA for my Midwestern! Big thanks to Jake for putting up with my indecisiveness going back and forth on the pickup and finish The final specs are Midwestern with B90 pickup, vintage white(satin) finish and a tortoiseshell guard. Super pumped!

I love it. Jake's fret work is outstanding, and it sounds exactly as I had hoped. Really great vintage tone with a sweet top end. I have 6 gigs this week, so it will get a work out! Will report back after I take it out tonight
