So I have had the Midwestern on a few gigs so far... I am a huge fan. Its a unique bass for sure, that has a very present sound and really pops through a dense mix. Short scales tend to have a bit tubbier of a sound, the exception with the Serek is that it also has great low note definition. Its already started to open up tonally since I have been playing it too. Also Jakes build quality is right up there with the best basses I have owned including Sadowsky, Lakland USA, Lull. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one if you're looking for a unique vintage style bass.
