Just curious, I see some with the Hipshot Vintage Fender style bridge and some with the Gibson (?) style. Do they sound different? Or is it just a preference thing? The Midwesterns look so dang cool.

I honestly don't know if it sounds different. For me it was just a visual preference - I went with the Fender style Hipshot. It's an awesome bass!

I stopped at Chicago Music Exchange today and briefly checked out a used Sacramento they had. If it were a five instead of a four, it may have followed me home. Very, very nice.

I just came across these while looking at options in that 32" bass master list thread. They all look awesome! I'd love to check out a 32" Sacramento as well as an Armitage. I love all the different pickup options he's got too. I wish I would have discovered these before I bought my last P-bass. I'd way rather have one of these!

I had Jake make me a 32" Midwestern2, delivered back in April. Bass plays like butter, sounds fantastic in the mix, and has been my main gigging bass ever since. If you're thinking about one, pull the trigger !!! You won't be disappointed....

Serek is like the brand I think that would benefit the most from setting up an import brand. It'd do something completely different than it's competitors at the lower price range, while still keeping some of the spirit of the originals.

I agree about Serek being different and original, but I'm not sure the Serek name is established enough to want to risk diluting it with a non-USA-handmade product.

I wonder what Jake's perspective is. Setting up overseas production is no small task, but it would be awesome to see more basses of his designs in the hands of more players.

That and the custom basses would go away to an extent. His prices are beyond fair and the ability to order what you want is pretty stellar. Setting up overseas would cost him a penny, save yours up and get what you want.

I'm obsessing over Serek 5 strings right now (some really great players like Kevin Scott, Evan Marien, and Tim Lefebvre have them)... just a question of whether to get a medium or short scale

Freakin' Serek is giving me GAS. I don't need another bass, I don't play out enough to justify another bass, but damn, they have so many cool cues that I may not be able to help myself one of these days.

My Serek Midwestern has arrived (in the UK) and just really bloody brilliant. I already have a Fender Mustang, so I’m not exactly new to the shortscale thing, but this Midwestern is a whole new ball game.

It arrived at 11am last Wednesday and I was able to take it to a gig that same day, and it nailed it, so much fun to play. It also sounds fantastic, I specifically wanted the B90 pickup, I figure that it’s part of the Serek sound and brand, the various other pickup options are great, but this B90 is the one! Mine has the dummy coil on a push/pull pot, which is great for recording, but actually live the standard wiring is perfectly fine.

Build quality is excellent, as most of you know, and even though the build is largely Walnut, it’s still very comfortably lightweight.

All in all, i’m very happy and couldn’t recommend Jake (Serek) enough as a luthier!

I just emailed Serek. I WILL own a Sacramento! I bought my first US Lakland having never played one. I will do the same with the Serek, only it will be a custom order, HAHA.

I’ve got a Carlo, it’s my number 1. I had not looked into Lowdown. Just researched them, nice stuff. But, I think I’ll be content with what Jake and Carl can build for me.
