Serious question for the luthiers here ....

Cripes, here's a health update, I had another heart attack this morning. :(o_O

Stent and angioplasty and now I'm in recovery and can't leave for a couple days. At least the hospital is damn near empty as they have cancelled tons of surgeries and procedures, and no Covid cases here, but jeez man, can't catch a break.

Keep the building going gang, I need to live vicariously through y'all for a couple of weeks! :D:smug:

(Ps, I'll assume that if you like this post, it means well-wishes. I'm always torn when liking someone's bad news lol )

man, Beej - I’m so sorry to hear this, but I’m glad you came through ok. Please take your recovery slowly, and don’t push too hard... I’m trying to resist pushing as well. We need ya here, my friend !

Oh good grief! Well at least you got to the hospital in time.

We're going to have to start a sub-forum of Luthiers In Recovery. Assuming that my surgery goes well next Tuesday, I'll be spending a week in the recovery room with my phone and laptop. We can all have a conference meeting. How we would have done the surgery with a router and a fixture.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and wishes all, much appreciated. :)

Oh man, did I ever need that laugh!:roflmao:

I hope your procedure goes smooth Bruce, you’re like our collective Dad. :DCertainly a patriarch of luthiery!

The teenage doctors took great care of me, and I'm home and feeling pretty strong, but have to take it easy for a couple of weeks. I'm being scheduled for open heart and a bypass around my birthday this fall, which is a mixed blessing. :nailbiting: More needles and cutting, neither of which I enjoy. :smug: A total of 11 needles in this hospital visit. My anxiety around them helps me keep track. :D

On the plus side, assuming everything goes well, I'll have a good basis to get a sweet new tattoo like this:

@Beej - I’m glad you’re back home and resting. Take it easy, my friend :)

@Bruce Johnson - Bruce, good luck tomorrow.... we’ll all be thinking about you and praying for you.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your good thoughts and prayers. I really do. I go in at Cedars-Siani hospital at 5:30 am Tuesday. I'll probably be in there for about 6 days. I'll have my phone and laptop with me. The surgery is supposed to be all done by Tuesday afternoon. When I'm back reasonably lucid I'll post a couple of messages on here. After a few days, I may be able to do a bunch of writing on here, about Luthier stuff. We'll see how it goes. Everyone tells me that Cedars-Siani is the very best heart surgery hospital in the western US, and my surgeon is supposed to be the best and most experienced at my particular procedure. He's done a few thousand of them. I'm getting a Bentall procedure, replacement of the upper aortic valve and a portion of the aorta.

If all goes well, I'll be back in my shop in about 10-12 days, working lightly and slowly. By mid June, I should be fully recovered and have more strength and energy and endurance than before. That's what they're telling me.

As my late buddy Mike Lipe always used to say: I'll see you on the other side!

I'm back from the other side! My surgery was successful, Doc says all is good. I'm still in Recovery in the hospital, supposed to be released on Sunday. Not much pain really. Mostly weak needing to exercise my lungs. Still a little woozy from the drugs. I'll be back writing again soon, about basses.
