Serious question for the luthiers here ....

I worked at the Japanese ambassador to the UNs residence in NY for 10 years and we had a few of his pieces they were amazing, I had a book out the library about him, really interesting guy he didn’t have an easy start as a Japanese person as the war broke out but managed to achieve amazing things very inspiring

For sure ! I know they sent him and his family to an American concentration camp during the war, and after release he settled in New Hope. Rough story..... though without the concentration camp, he never would have turned out the way he did. He met a guy there who helped him with design and they would use the meager furniture in the camp, rework it, and create some amazingly cool pieces. It’s definitely a cool story.

TODAY WAS MY FINAL CHEMO SESSION !!!!

I still have 9 more radiation therapy treatments to go. But there’s a light at the end of this very dark tunnel.

also last weeks CTscan should significant shrinkage on the tumor on my tongue, and the lymph nodes are shrunk to normal. From stage 4. Hallelujah !!! Both my radiation DR and my Chemo Dr are happy with the results so far. Of course we won’t know for sure until the final PETscan after radiation is complete.

but it looks like I might get to live a while longer. That’s a much better alternative than dying. The mortality rate for what I have is super high once it’s spread , so this was and is a tough uphill battle. But I’m ready to finish up, heal up, and kick some ass again.

Thank you guys for all the notes, supports, prayers, thoughts, and understanding you’ve shown to me. It is not taken for granted.

Nice job Andy, your attitude towards life must be giving you an advantage in winning this war.:thumbsup::thumbsup::bassist::bassist::bassist:

Yes, that's fantastic news! With all this ugly cancer and heart stuff, it's all about catching it early. The Doctors have an amazing tool kit available, if they can get to it early. It sounds like they got to you in time. This was a fork in the road of your life, and you've made the right choice.

Today is starting out well too. Don’t wanna speak too soon.... and I know the weeks gonna get harder.

I sold a bass last week so with part of the funds I decided to treat myself and order a little toneful joy .... a Union Tube & Transistor Sub Buzz. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this pedal, and the sound clip I found sounded great, so I’m pumped about building a second board around it. I think I deserve a new toy :)

:D

How are ya feeling, Bruce ?

Copied from the Love Of Ampegs thread, where I mostly hang out:

Update on me: I'm doing fine, the recovery is going well. The Docs say all the numbers are looking good. I'm halfway through the Zombie phase. The main point is to keep my heart on idle while all the seams heal up. Don't put it under heavy load, yet. I'm mostly lying down, sitting up in my recliner, and walking slowly up and down the halls. Sit outside in the sun, munch a sandwich, back to the recliner or bed. Still very tired, sleeping a lot. I've figured out how to sleep pretty well.

If all keeps going well, in another week, they'll clear me to start loading up my heart. Walking at normal speed, climbing stairs, walking a mile or two, light shoulder exercises.

It's starting to get boring. But I have to keep following their rules patiently. Do not want to risk damaging their work.

I'll be doing more writing here on TB in the upcoming weeks. And I have a crapload of my own paperwork to catch up on. I may be able to start some light supervisory work in the shop in a week. But for now, I'm just being a lazy tired old man in front of the computer.

Keep it going my friend ... We are all in the “don’t push it and attempt to be patient” period. Good lord it’s boring though

just gotta keep your mind active when your body can’t be

Heal well.

So my final radiation treatment was a few days ago, on Tuesday. I’m still going in to get fluid infusions, that seems to help. Just settling in for a long recovery. Still really difficult....can barely eat, have dry heaves daily, no energy, etc..... BUT on the good side, the radiation burns on my neck are healing nicely. I get a scan in 6-8 weeks, and hopefully they come back clear and cancer free !

Bruce and Beej ...... how are you guys doing ?
