Sounds quite similar to the (heavily modded) EB-0 in my avatar on several different levels. And the tune itself is very close to my own train of thoughts...

You would probably like LaBella DTFs, if you don't already have them.
I'm in a new reggae band and we're recording 3 songs for an EPK. The Steppers track was put together by our guitarist/producer from some extra beats our drummer recorded.
I put Labella flats on my EBO and thought I'd try it. It records really nicely!
That SoundCloud account is leftover from the band in the bottom track "Wasted". I just use it to quickly post stuff.

I try not to hate any musical instruments
, but I prefer Gibson style construction. Tilted headstocks and set necks make me happy, but Fender construction is sturdy and modular. I use both.Honestly there is not a lot of sonic difference between my Pbass (alder body/80's Jazz Bass Special neck/SD quarter pound P) and my JC. Both have Labella DTFs. In a mix I doubt anybody could reliably guess which is which.
I should post the Steppers track and do a poll asking people to guess the bass!
Wasted is done with my Aria Pro II SB600 - definitely some bright rounds. Gotta find a different SoundCloud account. I think I have a few.

Now that my 2020 Winter Build Off - 4000LS is finished, I'm thinking about another EB/SG build. Maybe headless, maybe multi-course, definitely different!

Just realized I never asked for a number but have posted a while back...
Here is my 2001 epi eb0. Got me back into playing bass after showing me I love shorties. And has become my mod machine.
Just swapped out 3 way switch (had removed tone knob awhile ago) to put in a varitone (kellingsound solderless kit). Havent had time to add back switch. Cant fully hear difference in all 12 settings but get 4ish that sound better than my old tone knob.
So for now just have guild reissue bisonic set up. Waiting for novak bass gold foil to replace the victory gold foil assuming it has wider string spacing (victory stills good pickup).
Previously had tapewounds but now trying low labella low tension flats after loving them on my eastwood airlines jetsons jr. So far so good once e string settled in.
