Is that a spalted maple pickguard, Ric5?
Love it. Very original and attractive.

I'm going to be cutting a pickguard for my LTD Viper this week out of 1/8" birch plywood based on an '06 SG but modified to fit my squished contours.
Looked at exotic woods first (none like yours!) but the theme is now "copper" so all parts involved are getting painted instead.

Yes spalted maple ... I picked up some 1/8" thick pieces of wood and started making my own pickguards. I made the white pearloid pickguard as well

On the spalted pickguard we were just discussing.
I have a set of them sitting right here, and they look exactly like what you used.
Pretty much the allen-headed & domed version of the classic Fender (and everyone else) pickguard screw.

Took a shot and missed, apparently.

I bought a large quantity of chrome and black pickguard screws many years ago along with many other things to supply my workshop so that I have what I need to build frankensteined parts basses. So the screws are generic I don't know the specific size.

Do it! I like single-pickup basses, but only when that single pickup is closer to the bridge (approx Stingray "sweet spot" location). An EB0 greatly benefits from the addition of a bridge pickup, IMHO.

That is the spot I am looking at, that stingray spot. I got a stingray-esque Ibanez ATK. So that voice. I kind of want both basses to merge cause they are both kind of nice. Trying to put a mud ish pickup in my Ibanez too.

Done. It is in there. Wanted to put toggle and tone, but toggle needs bigger hole, so for now it is vol, vol.

I was going to string it back up with its LaBella Flexible Flats, but one of the ferules for the tuners fell out? *** So, I pulled all of them and glued them in and it is drying.

How on earth did you prop it up for that photo without the bridge falling straight out, immediately followed by all four saddles springing for the four corners of the earth?!? Do you have superpowers?

Ha ha the front adjustment bolt is slightly higher than the back two. It somewhat stabilizes the bridge in place and give slight bit more break on the saddles.
Watching the glue dry, sigh.

Ok up and running. The pickup sounds good like it ought to in that spot BUT
It is noisey in a weird way. Noise when by itself, but disappears when in combination with other pickup. Maybe not grounded right, but poking around the pots and grounding with screwdriver makes zero difference and not even any popping sounds of connections coupling and decoupling. Maybe pickup is a dud?

Is it actually a humbucker? Just because it's shaped like one doesn't mean it is one.

Has it worked satisfactorily in the past, on another bass?

Is it buzz, or hum?

How many wires does it have? It may need some shielding if it's buzz.

I shielded the cavity, pickup is a thunderbird I think, with two wires.

Also noise goes away when both pickups are on, but I cannot find a bad connection anywhere.

Try connecting that metal pickup cover to your cavity shielding, and make sure your cavity shielding is connected to ground.
