Shecter 004 - Thoughts?

Like the body, Shecters have excellent playability, versatile bridge and hardware, not wild on the EMG's and don't like the headstock. Aside from from that...yeah not bad, test drive it and see what you think.

Poor man's rick? Nah...I've seen lower.

Love em. Really love the black with maple, but I only play 5'rs and Schecter only makes 4-strings in those.

However, there's been a couple 5-string 005 prototypes around. I missed out on one by two days a couple weeks ago. I talked to Schecter and they're not making the 5-strings and there's anywhere from 1-6 prototypes around but most likely around 3.

I'll snag one of the 005 prototypes eventually to go with my CV-5 prototype with J/MM configuration and 004 style headstock.

Awesome bass! Bought one about six months ago. I wasnt enthusiastic about the EMGs either but it suprised me. Really good sounding bass and i love the neck. I was a Warwick neck -fan but this is better, about the same shape but a little smaller.

My band just released a demo, which i played with the 004, if you care to listen, open this link ( Invalid Link Removed ) and click the "Kuuntele" to play the songs.

I played one recently. it was a good instrument and quite beautiful, but as with most HZ equipped instruments, I wasn't imipressed sonically.

There's a 004 out there in fireglow with pickguards reminicient of a rickenbacker guitar. It looks great, but it's a MM'J, which isn't very Ric'ish.

A TBer told me about it and I was florred until I saw the pickup configuration. If you look on the guitarist magazine website for gear guide outtake photos there's a picture of it. Warning, though, the pics might not be work apropriate.

Sorry, It was guitar world:
http://www.guitarworld.com/

The bass they show is very similar to the guitar you describe, which is called the stargazer. The Stargazer is based on the "00" series guitar, of which the "004" is the bass variant.

I couldn't find a name for the bass that guitarworld had, but it's probably either some sort of 004, or a "stargazer bass"

I believe it is called the Stargazer bass. Defiantly has a ric inspired look IMHO. I'd like to test drive one. I liked the 004 I checked out at GC but the knobs on the pre were cheapo.

I tried one yesterday in black, it plays really well and I think it
***One thing though, the pickups on this bass are not EMG, they are "schecter designed" they still sounded pretty nice to me.
The two band eq worked well, it was easy to dial in a nice tone. The passive mode sounded good, thinner than the active but seems like it would cut through well and is really handy for when the battery dies.

WOW!!!!

And the bass aint bad either!!

:hiding:

Seriously though, wow, just wow! The Stargazer looks fantastic! And I bet the bass sounds as good as any Schecter 004. Although the MM pup will definately give this bass a differnt tonal signature than the other 004 basses, wow.

Did I say wow yet? Wow!

I have played the natural finished one, but want the black one and intended to put a custom white PG on it...but seeing the red finish...I dunno...if the black one was bound well.....

Picture this, black body, white binding, rosewood neck with white binding...A Jetglow ish Schecterbacker!

As to the 004 bass, they play fantastic, feel good along the neck and I love that you can go active (ug) or passive (YES YES YES)

I am rethinking my GAS stragedy....:bassist:

And there is an existing thread here about the Black and Natural versions of the 004's called "Schecterbacker" or some such thing
