I've searched all around, but I couldn't find an answer. I'm going to be shipping my head (Carvin BX1200) in its rack case and I'm wondering if it would be safe to just put it in a box and ship it out?

Shipping an SS head

UPS standard is "an inch of padding all around". Having said that, I shipped a BX1200 back to Carvin for repairs with padding on all sides but only on one end and it survived fine.
Couple of layers of chunky bubble-wrap should be enough.
