shoe string basses (cheep basses)

sx p: $109
sx pj: $89 (blem)
parts pj: about $325
dean rhapsody 8: $235
jay turser beatle bass: $250 (got a little ripped off on that one but it's been a superb little bass so i can't complain)

none of them are my main bass, though the turser was for about a year. i have used all these basses onstage at some pretty big shows in large venues (and some crappy local venues as well). never once had a single issue and always had a killer tone as good as anyone's. i love cheap basses. most i ever paid for a bass was $1500. great bass, just jammed on it tonight, but i always use the cheaper ones these days.

Every bass I own has cost me less than 300 dollars. I used to have a Fender MIM Jazz Bass with a 250 dollar preamp in it, but I sold it, because all my cheap equipment was better.

'82 Squier JV (domestic), 300 bucks

'99 Squier Affinity P-Bass, 149 dollars
Neck from a 2002 Affinity P-Bass. New tuning machines, Rattlecan painted. No controls at all. Plexiglass pickguard. Best playing bass I own, by far. Knowing how to set up an instrument can do a lot for any old piece of junk. Once I replace the pickup, this thing will be unbeatable.
