Shootout, Sadowsky, Stenback, de Gier, Fodera.

These all have a mid forward hi-fi sound that contrasts a lot with your last video comparison of vintage Fender Precisions. That presents a bias for me.
With that said, the Stenback has a slightly more organic tone than the others. I suspect with string changes and EQ adjustments any of them would get closer. Amps (tube vs D Class) can make a big difference too.

Awesome job, Roog! To my ears, the samples provided sounded very similar, with the Stenbeck providing a little more thump than growl, as compared with the others... note: not better, not worse.
$5 says you could put a cigar box bass in your hands, and we would still be able to hear you.
For me it is almost a tie between the Stenbeck and Sadowsky. The Stenback is a bit tighter in the low end (which may or may not have been caused by a bit too much bass boost on the Sadowsky preamp) but the Sadowsky has that typical beautiful sparkle in the high end. They all sound great in the hands of a great player. Nice job!
The Standard is great, but I missed a Sadowsky, so it had to go. Can’t keep them all.
Quad Cortex with the Neve 1073 capture and the optocomp.
Only adjusting the input level of each bass. The Sad is by far the loudest and the Stenback the least output level.
For me it's the De Gier. Great guy, great builder. But well, I'm Dutch. Didn't like the MG. All about mids and to much in front of the music instead of in the music.
I understand, but there are circumstances where the Fodera will be a saviour.
I really didn't like the Fodera, any of the others would be fine. I think I'd try a P bass for that track.
They all sound amazing.
I liked the sadowsky the least but it also had that fattest thiccest bottom end which I loved.
Honestly I could make an argument about why any of them sounded the best, but my gut says de gier.

All these basses were great, but Stenback for me was the most organic sounding one.

For me it's too close to call between the Sadowsky and the Fodera. They both have very different tonal qualities, but I really like those individual qualities in each. Excellent playing too!
It’s funny just listening from the crappy speaker on my phone, the Fodera seems to allow the notes to pop out the most and be audible. I know that’s not a complete picture of the audio but it’s interesting. Listening with phones might have changed my vote. I’m glad you skipped the slap break as you would have had to do it with every bass or risk a collective Talkbass meltdown.
Yes, skipped the slapping, fingerstyle matters the most to me.
The Fodera is well suited for low shy appliances.(if that is correct English)
